Show Funeral Services Set for Friday for Mrs. Agnes Burns Mrs. Agnes Baxter Bums died at her home in Pleasant Grove on Monday afternoon, 3:30 p.m. after i a few months illness. She would have celebrated her 81st birthday April 5 of this year. A daughter of the late Elizabeth Eliza-beth Kelly and Cornelius Baxter, she was one of a family of 12 children. Her parents came here from Lanarkshire County, Scotland Scot-land in the year 1873 on the ship Wyoming as converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints. Mrs. .Burns was bom in Coalville, Coal-ville, Utah, April 5, 1876. The Baxter Bax-ter family were one of the early settlers of Provo Bench. They moved mov-ed to Pleasant Grove when Mrs. Burns was 15 years of age. They settled in what was then known as the Old Holly House and ran a hotel for many years. Mrs. Burns had lived in this old home located at the head1 of Main Street until . her death. She was married to Samuel Burns Sept. 1, 1900. He died July 7, 1937. Their marriage was solemnized sol-emnized in the Salt Lake Temple November 22, 1939. Mrs. Burns will be well remembered remem-bered as the owner and manager ; of a cafe she ran for many years. She cared for both her parents un- ' til their deaths in their late 80's. Her , life has always been one ; of service and love to everyone. Active and alert, she was always j known for her geniel disposition and her home was always open to everyone. She raised a. family of six children, child-ren, who survive her. They are Clyde E. Burns of Inglewood, Cal.; LaVerl C. Burns, Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. John S. (Hyacinth) Holten, Clearfield, Utah; Mrs. Margaret B. Deveraux, with whom she lived . until her death; Mrs. Paul M. Jones (Marie) and Mrs. Westley j J. (Mary) Walker lof Pleasant I Grove. She is also survived by ten j grandchildren and five great-gTand children. ' She will be missed by family, friends and townspeople as one of the outstanding citizens of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Second Ward. The body may be viewed at the Olpin-Sundberg Mortuary in PI. Grove Thursday evening from 7 to 9 and at the family home, 0 West Center, Friday prior to time of services. |
