Show Third Ward Play Much Enjoyed The presentation of the three-act comedy "Her Step Husband" by the American Fork Third Ward Dramatic Drama-tic Club Saturday night at the High School Auditorium, proved to be most entertaining. The unusually clever lines and the numerous amusing amus-ing 'situations which developed, brought forth much laughter from the appreciative audience. Miss Lucretia Ashby as an incurable incur-able romanticist was altogether charming in her role. Floating happily hap-pily along on the wings of imagina-tion, imagina-tion, she met an unexpected obstacle and came to earth with a jolt. Face to face with real problems, her husband hus-band sent to jail, ber baby stolen, she revealed herself as a wife and ! mother fighting for her happiness. In striking contrast to his emotional emo-tional wife, Walt Devey skillfully portrayed the matter of fact, practical, prac-tical, and unexcitable husband. Everett Ever-ett Devey as the husband pro tern brought all sorts of fun into the situation by his valiant attempt to be the devoted husband to a make-believe wife. All went well, however, until his fiancee arrived on the scene and then he began to get warm. Violet Vio-let Birk took the part of his fiancee and she presented a pleasing appearance appear-ance on the stage. Mary Abel as the attractive friend from next door, M'ada Shelley as the spinster Aunt, Etta Abel as a quickwitted, quick-witted, talkative maid, and Edward Lee in the double role of a crook and a good natured Irish cop played their parts well and in a very realistic manner. |
