Show H. Percy Barrows Passes Away at Berkeley After Long Illness j il "r- Wpll &M SHm. H. P. BARROWS. Dispatches reached Ogden today tolling of the death In Berkeley, Cal., of IT. Percy Earrows, former Ogden man and graduate of the Utah Agricultural Agri-cultural college at Logan. M-. 'Bar-raws 'Bar-raws died early Monday morning from' the effects of a dropsical condition! which had affected him for u number of years. ! He was the son of Harry P. and Elizabeth Barrows, and was born in! Ogden, June 10, 18S3. He spent his! childhood days here, and when 10 j years of age was railed on a mission for the L. D, S. church to the western! states, whero he remained two years. ! Returning to Utah, Mr. Barrows' enteredthc Utah Agricultural college, I where he secured his degree as B S. While in school he becamo acquainted acquaint-ed with Miss Effie Smith, daughter of John P. and Eliza A. Smith, whom' he married 13 years ago. Since his marriage Mr. Barrows has devoted much of his time to teaching and studying in leading institutions throughout the country. Four years were spent in the government employ in Washington, D. C, whero he so-cured so-cured a doctor's degree at the George' Washington college. Mr. Barrows had moved to Berkeley, Berke-ley, Cal., to assume his duties connected con-nected with the supervision of vocational voca-tional education for the western states when death overtook him. His wife and children, Percy and Effie, and the body will reach Ogden tomorrow. Beside the parents tho following brothers and sisters survive: M. R. Barrows, Blackfoot, Ida.; Mrs. Joel J. Harris, Magna; Bessie B. Parsons, Ogden; Og-den; B. H. Barrows, Logan; Geneve B. Hunter, Los Angeles. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday in the Sixth ward meeting house. oo I |
