Boston and Brooklyn went into the nineteenth inning in-ning today before Boeckel's single scored Sullivan with the run which gave Boston a 2 to 1 victory. Fillingim Fil-lingim and Smith pitched all the way 1 and honors were practically even until j Smith weakened in the nineteenth. Today's game, following the 26-in-i nihg tie between Brooklyn and Boston Saturday and Brooklyn's 13-inning j' game with Philadelphia yesterday, gave Brooklyn the new major league record of 58 innings played in three ' consecutive games. The previous record rec-ord was 45 innings, played by Pittsburgh Pitts-burgh and Brooklyn in 1917. The game today was a duplicate of Saturday's contest up to the final in- ning, Brooklyn again scoring one run in the fifth and Boston tleing in the sixth. Up to this point Brooklyn hit j Fillingim freely, while Smith was effective. ef-fective. As the game progressed Fll- lingim proved invincible and Smith I gradually lost effectiveness. I Both teams fielded brilliantly except f, in the fifth when O'Neill's wide throw to third proved costly to the Braves. With one down Smith and Olson singled. sin-gled. Neis hit in front of the plate and Smith was safe at third on ' O'Nell's throw. Smith scored on Johnson's single.
