Show "SHOP EARLY." A Christmas "shop early" movement has been started in the east and through the activity of an organization in New York City, thousands of pieces of literature are being spread broadcast throughout through-out this county. Women's clubs in every city and town are taking up this worthy cause and it is understood that the movement has been adopted by several such organizations in Ogden. For years past the shop early injunction has been urged by newspapers, magazines and individuals throughout the country but never has the matter been taken up with such determination as that which marks the effort this year. Do you realize the import of those two little words "shop early?" Are you aware that such an action on your part is the greatest gift and the most appreciable present which you can make to the army of workers behind the counters and on the delivery wagons. And this gift can be made without the slightest sacrifice on your part. In fact it is to your advantage to follow this injunction. The full import of this message should be more fully realized by the women. Think of your careworn sisters standing for ten and fourteen hours behind the counters; add to this fatiguing test the patience-exhausting trials to which saleswomen are subjected every day in the year but more especially at Christmas time. It is not too early for you to porfit by the advice contained in this little phrase. There remain only two more than twenty days until Christmas. Your early co-operation will help in this great cause. The Christmas goods are being exhibited in every shop. To "shop early" will be a humane act. i |
