Show BOYS OH COAST - TO COASl TifiP Two lada, Abe Levlne and Max Uro dy, both aged 16 years, arrived In Og-cltn Og-cltn la6t evening ou their way to San Francisco, via the Edward Payson Weston route. Th boys started from the inetroi-olls inetroi-olls 83 day6 ago and have hiked the total distance to Ogden, arriving only two days behind the schedule. The boys aro making the big walk on wagers of $2,000 apiece, and have promised to make thn coast within 100 days' actual walking, excluding Sundays and rainy days, On their stops they give exhibitions of f6t and fancy roller skating, aud have earned their expenses and a neat little sum in addition to this money. I Owing to the absenco of a skating rink in Ogden, they will give no ex- i hlbltlou here, but proceed on their j w ay today. The travelers are carrying a letter from Mayor McBride of Falerson, N. J., from which point their walk started, start-ed, to Mayor McCarthy of San Francisco. Fran-cisco. They also carry letters from the Y. M. C. A In their home town and In New York City to the California Califor-nia association, together with signatures signa-tures of the mayors of the different cities they hare stopped at along tho loute. A reward of fl.OOO Is offered by the backers of these youths to any one w ho can prove that they have trav-eled trav-eled on any vehicle or conveyance, other than roller skates, urlng their trip. Mayor Glasmann will be called upon up-on this morning and aBked for his signature to a statement showing their arrival here, after which the boys will proceed on their walk, expecting ex-pecting to catch up the lost time and finish well within tho 100 days of their schedule. |
