Show DEATH CAME WHILE HE JOKED i The many friends and acmiaintnne of William John Pickett will be pained to learn of his death, which occurred at his home. Ill Paterson avenue, at 4:;m o'clock Saturday afternoon, af-ternoon, after un Illness of paralysis Mr. Picked was among the stalwart members of -tho Mormon church, nnd had been Identified with Utah Interests Inter-ests for the past twenty-live ears. He was well known In Ogden and has many friends, besides numerous relatives. rel-atives. Mr, Pickett was born in England, June 2Sth. 1S93, and came to this country coun-try about twenty-fhe years ago, flm settling at Vernal, Utah, where ho resided with his family for about eleven years when he removed bla family to Ogden, where they have tince resided. He was baptised into the Mormon church at an early ago and remained' faithful and firm In the Faith during his entire life. The deceased Is survived by a wife and six children and seventeen graud-children. graud-children. Following are tho names and residences of the children: William ' Pickett, David Pickett, both of Ogden; James Pickett of Poca-tello, Poca-tello, Ldaho; Mrs. M. D. Lluderman of Lon Angeles, California; Mr3. Georgo Wansgaard and Mrs. H L. Grant of Ogden. Mr, Pickett was 71 years of age when the grim reaper called him. During his life, up to five years ago, he had enjoyed good health. At that time he was stricken with paralysis and he never recovered. Recently, however, he had been feeling better, and, during all Saturday morning, ho was cheerful and Joked with his wife and other members of the family, being be-ing apparently, in fairly good health, and buoyant In spirits. At about 3.30 In the afternoon ho fell over with a paralytic stroke and did not regain consciousness. Funeral services will bo held Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First ward meeting house, under tho auspices of Bishop D. H. Ensign of tho First Ward. Special music will bo a ifeaturo of the services, and will b rendered In connection con-nection with tho choir of the ward. Previous to tho funeral the casket will be open at the residence, HI Patterson avenue, on Tuesday evening and on Wednesday morning until 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends of the deceased are Invited to attend. Tho burial will bo In the Ogden city cemetery. |
