Show Dean Forsees Better Living Efficient equipment and application appli-cation of time saving principles will characterize the modern postwar post-war American home, Mrs. Almeda P. Brown, acting dean of the Utah State .Agricultural college school of home economics, declared de-clared today. Reviewing the recent annual meeting of the association of land grant colleges and universities held in Chicago, 111., Mrs. Brown said, "speakers urged that more of the economics phase of home economics be injected into teaching. teach-ing. "She suggested that research be carried into the cost of prcedures and processes of building, equipping equip-ping and running the modern home, as well as continuing the investigations of. the nutritional values of various foods affected by factors such as transportation storage, cooking and preservation," preserva-tion," she said. National educators also suggested sug-gested that students be allowed greater freedom in election of subjects after they have complete ed successfully a foundation in basic sciences. They also urged that more attention be given to the humanities and that the social sciences rather than technology be emphasized. |
