Show Lee pointed out and urged ihat every farmer do his part to retain re-tain this form of self government by helping to place in office from their own ranks the men best qualified to look after the interests inter-ests of farmers and the public as a whole. To be eligible to hold office as a community committeman, a person must have the following qualifications: Must be engaged in farming or ranching and derive a substantial part of his income directly from farming or ranching; must be a resident of the community for which elected. Must have actively participated in the farm program during the current year. Thts participation may have been in the form of carrying out conservation practices in connection with the sugar program pro-gram or the application of conservation con-servation materials or carrying out soil-building practices under the farm and range program. Must not be holding any Federal, Fed-eral, state or major county office of-fice filled by political elections. Must not be a candidate for such office in the current year. Must not have been or be an employe of any political party or political organization. Must not have heen removed for cause from office of committeemen, commit-teemen, delegate, alternate or employee em-ployee of any county AAA associ. ation or have been envicted of any fraud, larceny, embezzlement, TRIPLEAELECTSONS PLANNED IN UTAH Community meetings for Utah farmers and ranchers to elect local Triple-A committemen for 1945 will be held in all com- j munities in the state during the November 15-December 15, Orville ; L. Lee, " chairman of the Utah ! State AAA committee announced today. At the same time, farmers cooperating co-operating in AAA farm program activities in a county will select a delegate from 'each community to attend a county "convention'.' where the county committee for 1945 will be selected. "These annual elections give j farmers throughout the nation the i opportunity to provide farmer j leaders of their own choosing to administer programs for which the Agricultural Adjustment Agency is responsible," Mr- Lee pointed out. "Triple-A committeemen not only on-ly carry out the national agricultural agricul-tural programs in their own localities, lo-calities, but have the responsibility responsi-bility of sending on to state and national levels the recommendations recommenda-tions they and their farmers have for meeting local needs," he said. With shortages in labor, machinery, ma-chinery, materials, transportation, and equipment threatening agricultural agri-cultural production in 1945 and the .ever-increasing demand for more of most farm commodities, the need for the best leadership obtainable becomes obvious, Mr. or felony. The exact dates and locations of the community election meetings meet-ings will be announced in the near future, Mr. Lee said. A discussion dis-cussion of the year's AAA activities activi-ties and the outlook for next year's farm production effort will be a feature of the meeting. |
