Show Hyrum Boy Wins Degree Utah boys who were awarded the- State Farmer degree of Fu- ture Farmers of America, are , highly .commended for their; achievement in an article appear- j ing in the current October-November issue of "The Furrow," j national farm publication, pub-! ltshed by John Dere, Moline. 111. I A photograph of the state of- fleers and adviser, Mark Nicholas, Nich-olas, Salt Lake city, appears in the publication in connection with the article. The newl3'-eiected state officers are Eugene Sanford, Delta, Del-ta, president; Merrill Hallam, Spanish Fork, vice president; Don I E. Cassity, Tooele, sen.inel; Rex Limb, Beaver, reported, and Sheldon Shel-don Madsen, Lincoln, secretary. Cassity and Madsen are also named in the article as being recipients of the State Farmer degree. "The Furrow," reviewing Utah State Farmer candidates, pointed the spotlight upon Kenneth Poul-sen, Poul-sen, Ephraim, as most outstanding. outstand-ing. It stated, "Kenneth, 17, was a senior in high school, having a ' scholarship average of "B." Specializing Spe-cializing in swine and turkeys, his total project income was $6,100. Last year, 2,500 turkeys netted $3,240. Throughout his high school career, he participated participat-ed in many school activities and athletics, as well as exhibited livestock at several shows." Among the other 33 Utah boys, who won the coveted State Farmer degree this year, given recognition in "The Furrow," are Lavarr Anhder of Hyrum. |
