Show WE CAN NOW SETTLE DOWN The political fight was fought, the people cast their votes, the winners have been announced and now the voters must settle down to normalcy again. There is an element of satisfaction that enters' into the .aftermath .after-math of election day. It is the fact .that the populace accepts the mandate of the majority and wholeheartedly wholeheart-edly throws away their prejudices that entered into the debates of the campagin. That is the way it should be for if it were not that way there would be a likelihood likeli-hood of contention, rebellion, anarchy, riots, bloodshed and death. To those who did not vote for the winning candidate candi-date we can only say as has been said with respects to the substitutes offered for our use due to the war effort: ef-fort: "If you can not get what you like, try and like what you get." Our interest now is the winning of the war and the winning of the peace. May the leaders of our country be able to throw away the selfishness of individual effort and look to and work for the people as a whole. May the local officials conduct a government with a desire of lessening the burdensof humanity and maintain, main-tain, as well, a county desirable to all who choose to can live here. We should not clamor for improvements that we can get along without, but let the things we are allowed to have be so placed that all will benefit. |
