Show FUNERAL HELD FOR JOHN 0. CANNELL SMITHFIELD Funeral services for John Cross Cannell were held Friday afternoon at the First ward chapel. Bishop M. T. Van Orden was in charge of the services with the ward choir under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Bessie Larkin and Mrs. Bertha Mather at the organ furnishing the singing. The opening songs were "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," and "Rock of Ages." Prayer, Alfred Al-fred Ainscough. Speakers who paid worthy tributes to Brother Cannell Can-nell were Bishop C. J. Plowman. Bishop Sylvester Low, Bishop Geo. Nelson and Bishop Van Orden. Special musical numbers were: vocal solo, "I Have Read of a Beautiful City" by Bishop Richard Roskelley and vocal solo, "In My House are Many Mansions" by Mrs. Eugenia Lundquist.' Closing song, ''O My Father". Benediction was by Bishop Newton Woodruff. The beautiful display of flowers was in charge of realtives. Mr. Cannell was born at On-cham, On-cham, Iranian, England, Aug. 8, 1859, a son of Thomas and Jane Cross Cannell. He emigrated to America in July 1881 and in May 1915 was married in the Logan temple to Elizabeth Ann Hind. He was active in church and civic affairs during his life. Surviving are his widow, seven sons and daughters: Horace John Cannell, Bui'ley, Idaho; George C. Cannell and Ernest Littledyke of Smith-field, Smith-field, Mrs. Thomas Hadley, Mrs. Eldes Barker and Mrs. Ivan Teuscher of Ogden, Mrs. R. I. Nowell of Maplewood, N. J; 23 grandchildren, one great grandchild; grand-child; two sisters, Mrs. Peter Taylor Tay-lor of Rexburg, Idaho and Mrs. Charles Hayes of Smithfield. |
