Show Services Honor E. T.Thornton At Sutherland Funeral services of E. T. Thornton ton were held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sutherland ward house under un-der direction of Bishop Frank Lyman. Ly-man. The opening number sung by a ladies chorus "Hold Thou My Hand," Delia Johnson, Nella Jackson, Jack-son, Dale Bishop, Dora Rose, Hazel Walker, and Eleanor Roberts as members of the chorus and Evva Dean Moody, accompanist. Prater, Max Johnson; Speaker, Bishop Frank Lyman; Violin solo, "Going "Go-ing Home," Morgan Edwards, accompanied ac-companied by Hazel Walker; talk, Bishop E. B. Garrett of Lehi, a son-in-law of Mr. Thornton; talk, Bishop Cutler Henrie; "The Sweetly Solmn Thought", by the ladies' chorus; Closing prayer by Golden Erickson. Burial was in the Delta cemetery and Bishop Bryant Larsen dedicated dedica-ted the grave. Pall Bearers were i grandsons E. Thornton Garrett, Thornton L. Epperson, James Price, and Wayne Thornton, also Nyle Cox and Arlo Steele. Honorarv pall bearers were the High Priests. All speakers paid tribute to Mr. Thornton's religious faith and integrity; in-tegrity; his harmonious family relationship re-lationship and his courageous struggles for livelihood under precarious pre-carious conditions. Floral offerings were beautiful. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Nickle Mortuary. Those attending the funeral besides be-sides members of the immediate . family from out of town were Mr. I and Mrs. E. B. Garrett of Lehi; I Mr. and Mrs. Ed Price, Cedar City; Mr. and Mrs. LaMonte Epperson of Salt Lake City; E. Taylor Thornton of Los Angeles; Mr. and Mrs. Wil-ford Wil-ford Le Cheminant, of St. George; (Continued on Page 10) Thornton . . . Mr. and Mrs. Gay Hall of Cedar City; Mr. and Mrs. Max Thornton of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Phil Thornton of Salt Lake. And the following grand children: child-ren: Mr. and Mrs. E. Thornton Garrett, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Cooper, Julia Adele Garrett. Wayne Thornton, Thorn-ton, James Price, Mr. and Mrs. Thornton L. Epperson, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Christensen, Mareline Epperson, Kent Epperson, Nelly Carol and Gale Thornton, also a great grandchild Rae Dene Cooper. Also a nephew Mr. and Mrs. Jay Cox and son, Nyle of Lehi. A sister and familv, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Duffin, and sons, Wallace, Karl, and Loraine Duffin of Aberdeen, Idaho. Unable to be present was the eldest daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Arrington and son, Wendell, of New York City; a sister Mrs. Hattie Snow of Provo, now visiting in Texas, and a brother, Jay Thornton of Provo who was in San Francisco. |
