Show Arthur Bunker Dies Monday At Springville Arthur Bunker, 72, one of the early pioneers on the Delta project died of a heart ailment Monday morning at his home in Springville. j He was born Sept. 17, 1875, at j Panguitch, a son of Edward and j Aaraminta Z. McClellan Bunker. His early life was spent in Bunker- ! ville, Nevada, and he later resided I in Mesquite, Nevada. He married j Alvena Elizabeth Iverson May 14, 1902, in the St. George temple, j Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. ! He attended school in Cedar City !. and the Utah State Agricultural I college at Logan. As a young man j he served a mission for the church I in the southern states. ! Early Settler Mr. Bunker moved to Delta with the early settlers who helped develop de-velop the new farming project. He arrived here March 7, 1910, With his wife and four small children. Three days later he started work on his farm across ttje river, break ing ground and putting in the first crop. For 34 years he farmed there, and a son, Lyle Bunker, now runs the farm. Mr. Bunker succeeded through the ups and downs that beset those early farmers. He helped help-ed build canals and put in crops, and in 1910, when the diversion dam went out, he helped with the re-building. Springville has been his horn since 1938, when he moved front Delta. During his years in Delta he helped in many civic projects and was an active church member. He was president of the 70's quorum of Deseret Stake. He was a high priest and was filling a , : stake mission at the time of his I death. ' Surviving are his widow, and j' these children: Mrs. Romola Nor-' ton, Mrs. Roka Fackrell and Mrs. Ruby Twitchell, all of Springville; Lawrence Verl and Lyle Bunker, Delta; Glen Edward Bunker, Ter-reton, Ter-reton, Idaho; Mrs. Doris Hyde, Rupert, Ru-pert, Idaho; Mrs. Lillian Christen-sen, Christen-sen, Salt Lake City; brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lillian Corry, Springville; Spring-ville; Mrs. Ethel Miner, Bakers-field, Bakers-field, California; and Dr. R. C. ,! Bunker, Los Angeles. |
