Show THE RANGE OF CAMPAIGN MATERIAL 'Hoover Helps out Pets'. Tlis is a heading for a supposedly sup-posedly news story which is being- run in several papers. That's great! So does 'John Smith help out pets; maybe that will help him attain the presidency some -time. We think quite a bit of our old dog and occasionally throw him a bone but we never thought before of broadcasting the fact. The story tells of Hoover's taking the time during the Mississippi flood to help out the cats and dogs ; even paying for bird seed out of his pocket for the relief of the pet canaries of the natives. Whether Hoover or Al Smith helps out pets is not of vast significance in the coming election; we presumed that they, like all people, had certain human traits despite their greatness. In the pre-election campaign of public education it is our sincere hope that national headquarters of the political parties will soft-pedal the greater amount of such slush. |
