Show BILLION AND HALF WILL BE SPENT ON WESTERN HIGHWAYS More than a billion-and-a-half dollars dol-lars will be spent this year for road construction and maintenance in the r-leven far western state, according to a recapitualtion just received by the Utah State Automobile Ass'n. California's appropriation of over, seventy-eight millions is the largest,; followed by Washington's fund of approximately ap-proximately twenty-two millions. Oregon Ore-gon ranks third with Montana fourth, Idaho fifth and Arizona sixth. Prospective Pros-pective road building in the west is in direct proportion to the number of motor vehicles in each state with the exception of Utah which places sixth in automobile registrations and seventh seven-th in funds to be spent Among the important expenditures are $4,445,000 to be used for constructing construc-ting new roads and trails and for im-1 proving existing roads in 13 national parks. Mount Ranter National Park draws the largest individual appropra-tion appropra-tion of $758,400, while Yellowstone has been allotted $684,400. ! |
