The petition of James Marker, asking instructions how far west he may extend ex-tend the lino of his premises toward City creek ou B street west was referred to t Tip committee cn irrigation. J. M. T.you was permitted to pay his dilinquent tax in labor, under the direction di-rection of Watenuaster Cox. JensNel-son JensNel-son was alro given the same privilege. Tiie petition of Louis C. Kjar and others for water mains along First South street was referred. The city recorder reported the assessor asses-sor had completed the plat and list of districts 1 and 2 and are on file. Tho city recorder submitted his animal report for the fiscal year ending February 27, 1SH2. The report was referred re-ferred to an aii tiling committee consisting con-sisting of Councilors Reid. Bessey and Luke. Councilor Luke, in behalf of a special committee appointed to obtain a map of Manti city, presented the same. William I.owry, representing the rioneer Water Works company, petitioned peti-tioned and appeared before the council asking right of way for extending their mains from Main street at its intersection intersec-tion by Fourth South and running west on the latter street one block, also east on the same and the privilege of placing service pipes from the fame into tiio residences of S. C. Sorensen, T. P. Mndsen. and John Lowry Jr. Referred. Re-ferred. ' The recorder announced it was th evening to consider protests to the introduction in-troduction of water along North Fifth street west, distiict number 6. The remonstrance of E. M. Works and others and tho petitiens were laid over for further consideration. A motion to that effect prevailing, the further consideration in contested water cases was laid over until the next regular session. Major Shomaker then made the following fol-lowing recemmeudations: 1. The revision and codification of the city ordinances. He criticised the condi. ion of the present book in its reference to licenses, revenues, powers and duties of officers. Tho city had outgrown ami changed materially from the present published work, besides many of the recently enacted ordinances, ordi-nances, which repeal the old ones are not in print. 2.
