Watson, bishop of the Bountiful 1st LDS Ward. A portion of the ceiling collapsed in early March. Allen R. Howell, manager of safety and loss prevention for the church, said the new ceiling complete with a new sound system will be installed within the next eight months. Watson said the large white tower atop the tabernacle will also be refurbished and re- built. He said much of the wood in the tower has rotted away. The tabernacle will also get a new organ, Watson said. The organ was damaged along with many of the pews, the podium and the chapels piano when a large chunk of ceiling fell in Feb. 8. Volunteers and church officials worked together to clear the debris. Church services have been held in the buildings cultural hall since that time. Watson said the mishap has not really created a hardship on church members. He said the wards that meet in the building still have use of the cultural hall .t . and classrooms in the building. The only inconvenience is that chairs must be set up and taken down in the cultural hall in preparation for the meetings. And with basketball season still on, the setting up and taking down of the chairs has been a weekly thing. Watson said he believes that bids for the new ceiling will go out in May and a cost estimate will be available soon. In the next 30 days church officials should receive the drawings and specifications for the improvements. After a bid is selected, it will take 120 working days to finish the project. Watson said church members will likely have use of ' ; THIS OWNERS LOSS CAN BE YOUR GAIN 235 ossumable loan with maximum rate of 0.5. Call for details on5 this special financing. Extra sharp home.
