Show Final rites honor memory of Clara G. Mortensen Funeral services were held for Clara G. Mortensen, 70 of Parowan Friday at 2 p. m. in the Parowan Third Ward chapel. cha-pel. Mrs. Mortensen died Mar. 13, in her sleep at the Parowan Paro-wan ' Rest Home, following a series of strokes over the past several weeks. The services were conducted by Bishop Ernest Ahlborn of the Second Ward and Barbara Jane Batt was at the organ for prelude and postlude music. mu-sic. Speakers were Jean Hend-rickson Hend-rickson and Howard Joseph with closing reemarks by Bishop Ahl'born. The family prayer was by a son-in-law, Richard McBride, The invocation invoca-tion was by Ira Sehoppman, the benediction was by Clifton Clif-ton Halterman and the grave in the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by Claude Orton. Or-ton. Musical numbers were two songs by a ladies trio, Jackie Robinson, Gloria Smith and Merna Mitchell with Mrs. Batt at the piano. They sang "Jesus, "Je-sus, Lover of' My Soul" and "Abide With Me". A third song was "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" as a special request, by Howard D, Knight with Vyonne Chamberlain accompanying. ac-companying. Pallbearers were Lloyd and Russell Johnson, Alfred Smith, John Mortensen.Kenneth Gar-zand Gar-zand and Kendall Judd. Flowers were carried by the granddaughters. Mrs. Mortensen was born in Milford June 1, 1902, a daughter daugh-ter of Adolphus and Mary Harris Garzand. Married John William Mortensen, Dec. 14, 1922 in Mil'ford. He died April Ap-ril 28, 1958. She was a member mem-ber of the LDS Church. Survivors are sons, daughters: daugh-ters: Robert (Jack) Clearfield; Mrs, Orlyn (Norine) Johnson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Leo (Cleo) K. Smith, Mrs. William (Retta) Sehoppman, both Cedar Ce-dar City; Lloyd A., Beaver; Mrs. Richard (Etta) McBride, Tooele. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grand-grandchildren; half - brother, half-sister: Steve Harris, Mil-ford Mil-ford and Lourene McDonald, Nyssa, Ore. |
