Show Work is progressing rapidly on ; the west wing of the Bear River Canal. The Contractors intend pushing the work through this winter so the farmers at Little ' Mountain will not lack fur water ; next season. J. E. Jarvisold slim is foreman ot the rock work. j Mrs. K. E. Spencer has been quite ' ill for several days. Dr. Carring- ton of Brighain City, who has been in attendance, thinks she will be : able to be up again in a few days. I The residence of J. K. Fowler caught fire Sunday morning, but the fire was discovered before it had gained much headway. Mr. Fowler Fow-ler was away at the time and Mrs. Fowler, with the utmost coolness, : organized herself into a fire brigade ; and the house was saved. Lost, ! mostly clothing, $o0. Mr. Wat kins has had a second stroke of paralysis. The old gentleman gentle-man has been very feeble all summer, and is now in a critical condition. Postmaster Guthrie has been on the sick list during the past week, but is getting better now. The two brick buildings which j have been in the course of construction con-struction for some time past, are now nearly completed. The painters paint-ers are at work and will have these ' buildings ready for their occupants in a few days. The two structures show a combination of durability and finish that makes them an ornament or-nament to our fast growing city and the people of Corinne hope soon to boast of a first class drug store, as well as an additional grocery and clothing store. These two buildings, together with the elegant rasidences just built by Chas. Carson Car-son and D. D. Ryan, give our city a thriving appearance. Mr. Ryan is justly proud of his new home and when approached on the subject sub-ject of how a house should be built, gives an opinion "as is in an opinion," opin-ion," simple and convincing.
