Show DANCERS OF KAMCiNC LAMPS. Attorney Jon la Struck on the II end by the Uary Weight. A few days ago, Attorney R. H. Jones miraculously escaped a shocking shock-ing fate. He was sitting at home reading. IT is chair stood directly under a large hanging lamp which hung burning in the center of the room. Suddenly a crash was heard and instantly the great ball-like weight of the lamp plunged through the glassy structure, struck Mr. Jones a terrible oblique blow on the head and rolled across the floor. It weighed seventeen pounds and would have killed him had it struck him squarly on the head. The lamp flew into a thousand pieces,, being scattered all over the room. The blood spirted from the wound, which was not severe, however. Fortunately the oil failed fail-ed to ignite and a serious conflagration confla-gration was averted. People who have hanging lamps with heavy weights should be extremely careful, care-ful, as it is claimed by good authority author-ity that it is only a question of time when they will give way. |
