Show ................ ..t OBITUARY MARY ISA BELLE BURKE GILLIES Mary Isabelle Burke Gillies, Gil-lies, former resident of Beaver, died October 5, 1975 in a Sacramento, California hospital of causes incident to age. Isabelle Gillies was born October 23, 1889 in Beaver to Robert H. Burke and Agnes Ag-nes Low. Isabelle married Henry C. Detmers who preceded her in death and she later married Ebenezer Gillies, Jr. who is also deceased. Mrs. Gillies was a member mem-ber of the Eastern Star and was also very active in civic activities. In the 1930's she she served as State Republican Republi-can chairwoman, was one of the original charter members mem-bers of the Business and Professional Pro-fessional Women's Club of Beaver, serving a president in 1941-42. Mrs. Gillies was one of the first Captains of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp Nancy K. She worked as Court Reporter Re-porter for Beaver County and in the Beaver CountyAsses-sers CountyAsses-sers office for many years. Isabelle moved from Beaver in 1941. Isabelle Gillies is survived sur-vived by: 2 sons; Robert F. Detmers, Salt Lake City, Utah; Dr. Richard E. Gillies, Sacramento, Calif.; 8 grandchildren grand-children and 12 great-grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday, Wed-nesday, October 8, 1975, in the Beaver 2nd Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Mt. View Cemetery, Beaver, under the direction of the Metcalf Southern Morturary, Beaver. |
