Show OBITUARY ETHEL J. SMITH - Ethel J. Smith, 85, died in Milford Valley Memorial Memor-ial Hospital, February 22, 1981, after a long illness. She was born in Troupe, Texas, November 4, 1885 to Pasco Whitley and Nora J. Cross. She spent her youth in Texas. She married Owen R .Smith at Ft. Sam Houston, Jan. 4, 1918. He was in the army and she a nurse at Brooks General Hospital. They moved to Utah and to Milford in 1920, where her husband was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad. Her husband hus-band preceeded her in death July 22, 1964. Four children were born to the union, Rosalie, who passed away in 1980; Owen R., Castro Valley California; Califor-nia; Albert B., San Diego; and John W., Cedar City. She was a longtime democrat demo-crat who was proud ot have never missed a chance to cast her ballot. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Auxili-ary, American Legion Auxiliary, Aux-iliary, B of LE Auxiliary, GIA, Rosarians, and was instrumental in-strumental in establishing St. Bridgets Catholic Church and in earlier years with band activities at MHS and American Red Cross. Services will be held on , Thursday, at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Viewing will be at Southern Utah Mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Rosary at 9:00 both Wednesday evening. Burial in Milford City Cemetery under direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. After Af-ter interment family and friends will gather at St. Bridgets Recreation Hall. |
