Miller of Great' Falls, Montana, Aug. 14, at Great Falls. Miss Straw is a junior at the Brigham Young university and a member of the Vnl Norn social unit. Mr. Miller is a former student of the Montana Mon-tana stale college and Brigham Young. They will make their home in Great Falls. In honor of Miss Yvonne Bak cr, a I 'l ido of this week, Louise Uu.ssi'll, Nehta Johnson, and Sara Marie Binks entertained at the home of the latter Wednesday evening. Misses Thora Whiting, Verona Condic, Vera Wheeler and Beth Miller furnished musical and dramatic numbers during the evening. A delightful luncheon and ei'iuly bridal bouquets were enjoyed by the following guests: Hazel Savage, Veryl Davis, Maryn Johnson, Dorothy Weight, Martha Mar-tha Bird. L. Baker, Mrs. Wayne Johnson ami the guest of honor. Mr. and Mrs. J. X. Gardner and son returned Tuesday from a delightful week's vacation trip to Yellowstone national park. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hafen and Beth Ann Latimer returned recently re-cently from a visit with friends and relatives in Idaho. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J E Rothwell at Leslie and also spent some time in the Copper basin and Lost River valleys. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Welch of this city have as their guests, Mrs. Welch's mother, Mrs. L. M. Gill-ilan, Gill-ilan, who has spent tne last year in Tokyo, Japan, and Mrs. Welch's sister, Miss Elizabeth Gillilan, who is a teacher in the Women's Christian college at Tokyo. They will visit briefly here and then go to New York City for the winter. win-ter. Miss Gertrude Ann Welch accompanied accom-panied her grandmother, Mrs. L. M. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Kelsey Hill of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harrison Harri-son of Washington, D. C, the guests of honor and the host and hostess. Members of the Anchor 4-H club recently spent three delightful delight-ful days at the Mammoth ranger station with their leader, Mrs. S. H. Ollerton. The girls enjoyed hikes, picnic lunches and other diversions returning home by way of the south skyline drive. The group included Lucille Miller, Ileen Cook, Hazel Angus, Eva Nielson, Fern Harrison and Lucy Ollerton. 1 Nuptials To Take Place Tonight , Miss Yvonne Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Mrs. lone Palfreyman Olsen and little daughter Barbara Ann of Minneapolis, Minn., arrived here the latter part of the week for a visit with her mother, Mrs. Lydia Palfreyman, and brother, Eldon Palfreyman, and family in this city. En route here she spent a few days with relatives in Brigham Brig-ham City. Miss Yvonne Baker, a bride of the week, was guest of honor at a miscellane6us shower given 'by Miss Nelda Johnson, Miss Louise Russell and Miss Sara Marie Binks, Wednesday evening, at the home of the latter. The girls present enjoyed an impromptu program and during the evening pieced a quilt for the bride-to-be. A tasty luncheon followed being served to the following guests: Melpha Binks, Betty Boyer, Mrj. Newell Weight, Vera Wheeler, Martha Bird, Veryl Davis, Verona Condic, Bernice Palfreyman, Miss Dama Grant and Miss Phylis Smart of this city left recently on a vacation trip to the west coast. They visited at the home of Mrs. G. H. West at El SUgunda, Cat, and also with friends in Santa Monica, Santa Ana, and San Diego. On their return they spent four days at Pcoche. Nev., with Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Thorpe and Mr. and Mis. O. F. Burton and families. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Blackett and (laughter Joann; Mr. and Mrs. Foster Anthon and Miss Lula Hair of Provo. have just returned from a delightful vacation vaca-tion to Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyons and at Cedar Breaks. Mxs. Arvil Bird and children left Friday for several days' visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Lambert and her brother Cannon, Can-non, who has just returned from an L. D. ' Mrs. Ida Carlson of Salt Lake City, a former Springville resident, visited friends and relatives in Springville and Spanish Fork the past week. Mrs. Polly Day of Elmo was among the visitors in Springville the past week and also attended the encampment at Spanish Fork. Mrs. Chester Johnson of Richfield, Rich-field, Idaho, has been visiting her sister, Mrs. A. G. Thorn and other relatives and friends in Springville. Spring-ville. Mrs. Nell Barton and family is visiting in Springville with Mrs. Lydia Sumsion. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Sumsion and family enjoyed a trip through southern Utah the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thorn At Mrs. S. H. Ollerton has just returned re-turned from three weeks visit with her husband at the Mammoth Mam-moth ranger station. While there the family held a reunion with members from various parts of the state. Miss Leora Lunceford of this city recently returned from an, enjoyable two months' visit in Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. E. Weinke of San Diego, Calif., Roldo Ollerton of Fairview and Elma Ollerton of Manti, were guests of their mother, Mrs. S. H. Ollerton and family here the past week. Miss Phylis Green and Geofge Bolder of Salt Lake City, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Anderson in Springville. Miss Naomi Deal of Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif., and Mrs. Ella Deal Strain, former residents of this .city are visiting friends and relatives here. They are at present pres-ent the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. James Smedley Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. James Smedley Jr., of Bountiful were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Wood in this city. Mrs. Elizabeth Felix of Logan spent several days of the past week with her son, Jacob Felix and family in this city. Mrs. Vernon Condie has returned re-turned to her home in Auborn, Wyo., after spending the summer sum-mer with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Condie and other relatives here and in Salt Lake City. ' Mrs. Ina B. Reynolds and oaughter of California, are visiting visit-ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Emmett Bird and-family here. Miss Lola Felix who is taking nurses' training in Salt Lake City is spending her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Felix in Springville. Miss Louise Childs returned Sunday from several weeks' visit with relatives in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Willis K. Johnson John-son Jr., entertained at a nicely arranged pre-nuptial dinner complimentary com-plimentary to their son Willis, and his fiance, Miss Madge Hales, last Sunday. The dining table was centered with late summer flowers and covers were laid for the immediate family members. Miss Ruth Condie has returned return-ed from a three weeks' visit with relatives and friends in Salt Lake City. Announcement is made of the marriage of Willis K. Johnson, to Miss Madge Hales of Spanish Span-ish Fork, which took place last Thursday in this city with Bishop Bish-op William Witney of the Third ward, performing the ceremony. Shortly after their marriage, the couple were entertained at a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rusk Simons. They left Friday on a wedding trip through the canyons in southern Utah and will go on to Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif., where they will make their, home. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Mendenhall accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Child, left Friday for Raymond, Ray-mond, Alberta, Canada, where they will visit the former's son Deal Mendenhall and family. Deal's children, Shirley, Kay and Boh will accompany them to Springville to begin school here, and their parents plan, to come later. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Reynolds and Mr. and Mrs. J. Y. Bearnson left early the past week for a vacation trip to Yellowstone national park. In honor of her little daughter Paula, whose birthday was Sunday, Sun-day, Mrs. Reed Clements entertained enter-tained at a party at their home Saturday afternoon. Games and lurch were enjoyed by about 28 little friends. |
