Anderson and daughter Hazel, are enjoying an extended trip to Chicago and New York. Misses Josephine McKenzie, Aleen McKenzie, Marie P.: vers. Fern Bate and Ida Packard recently recent-ly returned from a motor trip in which they visited places of interest in-terest in Taos and Santa Fe, New . Mexico, Mesa Verde National Park and Denver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Holley 4 entertained at a delightful social t their home in Mapleton last Tuesday night in the form, of a lawn party. The occasion was y' the birthday of Mrs. Holley's mother. Mrs. George Harrison, am also of Robert Harrison, who with his wife, are visiting here ' from Washington, D. C. Early '' jn the evening a tasty luncheon was served at small tables on the lawn which was beautifully decorated dec-orated with vari-colored lights. Later a program and games were 5 enjoyed. Miss Clark is an expert horsewoman, has beauty on her side as well. She is 18. mother, Mrs. T. T. Hatch and other relatives here and at Spanish Fork. Mrs. Birdie Jenkins Baldwin of Bellflower, Calif., spent a few-days few-days of the past week visiting friends and relatives in Springville and Spanish Fork. Members of the Fidelity club entertained en-tertained at a hamburger supper in the canyon on Friday evening. Later two tables of bridge were enjoyed at the home of Mrs. Delia Dallin. Prizes for the evening were won by Mrs. La Von Scott of Pro-vo Pro-vo and Mrs. Rose Roylance. Mrs. Reed Straw attended as a special guest. Mrs. M. E. Morton of Wilkie, Sask., Can., and son Edgar, have returned to their home after several sev-eral weeks visit with their daughter daugh-ter and sister, Mrs. Bill Blanchard Blanch-ard and hiLsband here. Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard accompanied them as far as Salt Lake City on their return. Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Mozelle Houtz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Houtz of Mapleton, to John Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Cox of Salt Lake City, which took place Thursday in the Salt Lake temple. On Friday the couple were honored with a nicely arranged reception given in the form of a lawn party at the home of the bride's parents. About 200 obtests were bidden. Receiving the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Houtz, Mr. and Mrs. Cox and the bride and groom. The evening was delightfully spent with a program and social chat together to-gether with the serving of refreshments. re-freshments. Bridesmaids were' Miss Helen Cox of Salt Lake City, sister of the groom and Miss Delia Houtz, sister of the bride. The couple will go to Yellowstone National Na-tional park on a wedding trip and will make their home in Idaho Falls, where Mr. Cox will have charge of the music at Midway high school. Mrs. William Humphrey had as her dinner guests Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Humphrey, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Humphrey of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Ed. Tigve of Tecopa, Calif., Mrs. Martin Kenzon of Denver, Colo., and Mr and Mrs. J. M. Cranmer of this city. R. O. Jones Sr., and Mrs. R. O. Jones, Jr., of Carlsbad, Calif, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. C Chader and family last week end. Mrs. Captola C. Murdock, Richard Rich-ard Murdock, Carol, Bert and Jack Chemngton returned recently A. J. Jacobsen, a former teacher teach-er in the Springville high school,-and school,-and at present a worker in the Salt Lake temple, will be the principal speaker at the Fourth Ij. D. S. ward meeting Sunday at 7 p. m. The meeting is under direction of the ward genealogical genealogi-cal committee, and an invitation is extended to all to attend. New officers of the American Legion will be installSd at a meeting of the local post, Wednesday, Wednes-day, September 1, at Memorial hall, Commander LaVar Anderson Ander-son announces. Dr. Frank Reynolds, Rey-nolds, Provo, district commander, will be the installing officer. Alj members are urged to be present. Canning of tomatoes has begun at the W. R. Eddington Canning company plant here, with the peak of the season to be reached within two or three weeks. The canning can-ning will continue until frost. The tomatoes are expected to yield a normal crop of excellent quality, growers report. Mrs. D. O. Ashcraft of this city has returned to her home from a delightful three weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs. Elden Ashcraft in San Francisco, Calif. Elden was recently sustained a member of the L. D. S. bishopric in a ward in that vicinity. Mrs. Clara Ludvigson of Gunnison Gun-nison was the guest of her sister, Mrs. I. S. Brown and family here last week. Mrs. Emma Kennedy and daughter daugh-ter Edna of Salina, visited friends and relatives here the past week end. Members of the Old Friends club enjoyed a party at Vivian park in Provo canyon last Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. Progressive 500 featured the entertainment and prizes for the games were won by Mrs. Muriel Robertson and Mrs. Thelma Cherrington. At the close of the party a delicious luncheon was served to the following members mem-bers and guests, Mrs. Gertrude Clements, Mrs. Ted Pennington, Mrs. Reed Averett. Mrs. Vanza Mann, Mrs. Thelma Clark, Mrs. Thelma Cherrington, Mrs. Muriel Robertson, Mrs. Reta Kelley, Mrs. Leola Ewing, Mrs. Lillie Humes, Mrs. Bill Blanchard and Mrs. Norman Nor-man Tipton, the latter two being guests. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Bird of Bingham and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Erdman of Midvale, visited a short time in Springville Friday with Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bird, enroute to Marysvale. Miss Lois Stewart of Idaho Falls, Idaho, is visiting her grand- Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Sumsion left Monday on a business trip through Idaho and Wyoming. Eddington of this citv have just returned from a delightful vacation trip to Zion, Bryce and the Grand canyons. Members of the Current Study club were delightfully entertained Tuesday with a breakfast and dinner in Hobble Creek canyon. The party was in honor of Miss Bertha Bearnson, who recently returned from a mission in St. Paul. There were present, Miss Bea-.-nson. In addition to visiting places of interest on the west coast, they spent some time at Boulder Boul-der dam, Reno, Nev., and other larger cities en route. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anthon and Ted Anthon have recently returned re-turned from a delightful vacation trip to Yellowstone national park. A large group of relatives gathered recently at Balsam park in the form of an Albert Lamb-son Lamb-son family reunion. The time was spent with social chat, games and various sports together with picnic lunches. Among those attending at-tending were Mrs. Lottie Lamb-son, Lamb-son, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Lund, Magna, Afr. and Mrs. Clyde Draper Drap-er of American Fork, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Lambson and family of Ogden, Mrs. Elfie Bagley, Mrs. Edith Hemmingway. Miss Helen Clegg was hostess to members of her 4-H club at her home Monday night. Mrs. Verl Jones, district supervisor, was in attendance and explained how entries should be made in the fair. At the close of the meeting refreshments were served. serv-ed. A large representation from the 8-Leaf Clover 4-H club directed di-rected by Ann Stewart, attended the Utah county outing at Saratoga Sara-toga Friday, including Nadine Harmer, Helen Huntington, Ber-nice Ber-nice Leighty, Jaunita Curtis, Dorene Thyrett. Gleaner girls of the Second ward had a delightful time last Wednesday evening at a canyon party given at Birche's park by members of the ward presidency. Mrs. Mae ..Fletcher, Mrs. Hazel Harrison, Mrs. Helen Anderson, An-derson, and Mrs. Harriet B. Miner Min-er were hostesses. A program around a huge bonfire with Miss Ha Clyde giving piano accordion selections; Elaine Brockbank, readings, and community singing led by Miss Alzada Wiimott, were enjoyed by all. There were present, pres-ent, besides the hostesses, Harriet Har-riet Miner, ,Ina Miner, Cleon Fox, Mabelle Hansen, Alzada Wiimott, Elizabeth Harmer, LaRue Alle-man, Alle-man, Lois Hjorth, Virginia Sim-kins, Sim-kins, Marie Simkins, Dally Thorn, Hortense Crandall, Elaine Crandall, Cran-dall, Cora Harmer, Vesta Boyer, Mary Boyer, Wanda Miner, Helen Strong, Helen Gene Petty, Iris Orten, members, and special guests were Catherine Sumsion, Margaret Miner, Lucille Packard, Madelyn Dispain, Elaine Brock-bank, Brock-bank, Ila Clyde, and Bessie Tooth of Manti. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith and son Joseph, have returned from a week's delightful visit with friends and relatives at Rock Springs, Wyo.
