Show By Elaine Cannon k ) Here's a neighborly little item that makes good reading this spring cleaning season. Seems that a southeastern woman is so well-liked by her friends that they pitched in and gave her a real helping hand when she needed it. Mrs. Jake Johnston (LaVon Perry) has been .very ill for several weeks and the household needs we're necessarily given the go-by. So Mrs. J. Norman Everett, Mrs. Bronson Stringham, Mrs. Kenneth D. Reese, Mrs. Joseph Christensen, Mrs. Lawrence W. Morgan, met at the Johnston John-ston home on 4th East and 17th South early one morn this week and pitched right into the duites at hand. They completely cleaned the house . . . scrubbed floors, rugs, woodwork and walls. They washed and ironed curtains throughout. They cleaned all the picture frames and nick-nacks and polished furniture to a beautiful luster. They left cupboards, stove and refrigerator spic and span and Mrs. Johnston overjoyed. That's really a good example ex-ample of how southeasterners show their neighborliness. Nothin' like it, is there? Marvin and Norma Berntson Ashton are a happy pair those days and the two young 'uns at home are setting aside " special toys for their new baby brother. The newcomer to the Ashton family tipped the scales at 8'z pounds and is really something to shout about. Marv and Norma have prepared a nursery ill their new home at 2276 Berkeley St., to which they'll take their new baby. The grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Berntson, 2336 Twenty-first ast St., and Mrs. M. O. Ashon, 1970 South Ninth East, was born Saturday in the LDS Hospital. It's a grandson for Mr. and Mrs. Leo Eager of 1581 South 13th East St. The Eagers say that the youngster is to be named John Luck Moorse Jr. The new mommy is the former Donna Faye Eager and is keeping house for her little family in Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Eager has flown down to see the new baby. Southeasterners will remember re-member Donna as a U of U coed, not so long ago. To sunnier climes . . . Mrs. R. W. Dahl, 1983 Tenth East, is taking her son, John Rapp, along on a trip to California. They'll visit with Mrs. Dahl's mother, Mrs. B. A. Mathews in Oakland. John is on vacation vaca-tion between quarters at the University Engineering School. Easter egg hunts and chocolate choco-late covered candy eggs were features of cute little Barbara Richard's birthday party Tuesday. Tues-day. Barbara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne F. Richards of 740 Logan Ave. She blew out five candles on her birthday cake and proceeded to announce that this is the year she will start school. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ward, 1211 South 19th East St., invited Mr. and Mrs. Lester F. Hewlett Jr. over to their lovely home for a game of bridge the other evening. eve-ning. It turned out to be a gab-fest, though, with refreshments refresh-ments topping off a friendly evening. Duane and Joy Volker Cardail packed their two youngsters in the family car and took to the highways. San Francisco was their destination des-tination and they plan to be gone about two weeks. - Mrs. Elvon Jackson entertained entertain-ed a group of her friends at her home, 1328 Westminster Ave., Monday evening . . . Mrs. Jack Adamson, Mrs. Joseph B. Wirth-lin, Wirth-lin, Mrs. Allen Jensen, Mrs. Scott Clawson, and Mrs. Lyle Ward were among those sampling sam-pling the French pastries. Nuptial news . . . Donna Buck-miller, Buck-miller, 4579 Wander Lane, Hol-laday, Hol-laday, and Ferrin A. Lovell of Oak City will become bride and bridegroom in the Salt Lake Temple long about April 2. Donna is the very attractive daughter of Dr. and Mrs. L. J. Buckmiller. Both parties of the nuptial duo are former students at the BYU. |
