Davis Closing the Mines and... Swell Recipes T public lands use defender and mountain bike champion; he has been working to create a “mountain bike scene” in Price since his arrival here in 2002. Tall and stocky, with his long hair tied in a ponytail, holding a rake with a sticker that proclaims “SUWA Sucks,” and his pit bull Buster by his side, Fuzzy scours the horizon in the foothills outside of Price, interlacing quotes from Thomas Jefferson with the occasional “dude” or “awesome.” Part philosopher, part business owner and part surfer dude, Fuzzy said he fell in love with the place the first time he saw it. After the 2002 Winter Olympics, Fuzzy said he had been working around Park City when he decided it was time for a change. The change brought him here. “I had a job offer in Durango, Colo., that I was going to check out, but it wasn’t going to start for a month and a half. My mom had moved to hrough the eyes of Fuzzy Nance, life is all about happy trails. He’s been riding them, and blazing them, for most of his life and on the outskirts of Price the diehard mountain biker found the equivalent of paradise in the buttes and mesas of the area. He’s been talking about it ever since to anyone who will listen. And people are starting to listen. As the biking scene in Moab starts to seem just a little tired and a tad too commercial, mountain bike purists are looking for an untamed place to ride and in Castle Valley they are finding the rides dreams are made of. Nobody is happier about that than Fuzzy Nance. Owner of Fuzzy’s BicycleWorks in Price, the self proclaimed “bike freak” is a one-man cheer squad for the possibilities the area holds for mountain biking and what it could mean ecoA mountain biker has a little fun on the nomically to the county.
