Show GERMAN'S CHANGE THEIR PLAN FOR THE NEW CHURCH. Plans for the new St. Boniface church recently .organized by the German congregation con-gregation of St. Mary's church in the grove were materially changed at a meeting of the members of the congregation congre-gation held Sunday afternoon. Instead of remodeling the building at present on the site purchased a short time ago, as was at first planned, it has been decided de-cided to build an altogether new structure. struc-ture. The building matter was turned over rb a committee, and a meeting will be held next Sunday to arrange further details. Aa stated in those columns some time ag-o, the German congregation of St. Mary's has withdrawn from .that church, their connection being finally severed next month, and plans for their new church have been on foot for some time. The property now known as the Mt. Pleasant housa, corner of Sixth and Summit streets, was bousht by them, and plans had been drawn up to have it remodeled in such a way that it could be used for a church, parish echool and parsonage. The meeting yesterday yes-terday was called by Father Gregory for the purpose of completing the details de-tails of .this plan. It was practically determined that a church building will be put up that -will be separate from the present building, and will be used only as a chapel. The house now standing will be'arranged to be used, as originally intended, for school rooms, and as a residence for the Sisters. It is estimated that the new building will cost in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of $3,000. The committee that' will give attention to; the plans for the new building is Composed of the same 'persons 'per-sons who havfe .charge of the original plans for St. Boniface, and they are deserving de-serving of much credit for the manner in which they have conducted the matter. mat-ter. They will hold a meet-: meet-: ir.g next Sunday to arrange further plans. . . The meeting of the congregation was very largely attended, and very enthusiastic. enthu-siastic. The proposition to build was received re-ceived with favor, and when subscription subscrip-tion lists were opened there was a hearty and generous response. About $500 was. pledged at once, and whatever may be required will be readily raised in a short time |
