Show Missionary Has Thrill on Ocean Oliver Pedersen, who spent two years in the Scandinavian mission fields for the Mormon church, returned return-ed from the foreign lands Wednesday of last week, having completed his term as a missionary. Mr. Pedersen reports a successful time and thoroughly thor-oughly enjoyed his work. He was lo-' lo-' carted in Denmark, with has headquarters head-quarters at Copenhagen and at Aal-borg. Aal-borg. He made side trips to Norway and other points during his absence. Mr. Pedersen, on his return trip, experienced a real thrill. He had passage on the steamship United States and enroute home a five-day storm was encountered on the ocean. Several ships were wrecked and some lives lost, but the United States weathered the storm and landed safely safe-ly in the harbor at New York. His ship, Mr. Pedersen stated, did not escape some damage, though not serious, it gave the passengers a real scare. During the heavf sea a monster wave swept over the ship and practically prac-tically all the skylihts were broken by the heavy waters. A good drenching drench-ing for the seamen and some of the passengers and the breaking of the skylights were the 'sum 'results of the pranks of the heavy waves. Mr. Pedersen expects to remain in Gunnison for the present visiting with his parents. |
