Show Prospectors Make' Strike at Redmond A stampede that would do credit to Gold-field or some of the former lively mining- camps of the early days was stalled about two and a half miles cast of Redmond last Tuesday and as a result many claims were 1 staked out and plans made for immediate im-mediate development. Messrs. Ohris-tensen, Ohris-tensen, Peterson and Anderson, who located claims east of the Redmond depot some six weeks ago, and while doing some development work, uncovered uncov-ered what appears to be a real vein of ore. The strike was made, at the surface and when blasting a shot uncovered un-covered a. six-foot vein of ore. Assay values show the ore running .Od in silver, 18.5 per cent zinc and 11.5 per ccnt lead, with a trace of gold. When news of the discovery was made public many from Salina and other points flocked to the scene of the new find and some fifty or sixty claims were staked out. Christensen and associates, who have been developing a vein on the same district, have a shaft down to 18 feet. A fairly strong vein has been followed and as work goes ahead the indications show better. The vein in the shaft is about six feet wide and small feeders are found running through the walls. The formation is lime, and experts believe that with greater depth some real pay values will be encountered. The owners of ;he new strike are making preparations prepara-tions to develop and to this end sinking sink-ing will be started at once. Operations at Salt Gap, where Scott and Harris are developing, the Soren-son Soren-son property under a bond and lease, some very encouraging showings are being made. The shaft has reached a depth of 45 feet and the vein is now becoming more compact and is less broken. The values also- show a slight increase, and altogether the prospects are bright for breaking into a pay body of ore. |
