Show Competitive Bidding Saves Dist. $700,000 The Snyderville Basin Sewer Improvement District turned out to be the big winner when bids were awarded last week for construction of the area's new sewage, treatment plant. Stiff competition among 18 bidders brought the price tag of building the new plant and installing sewer lines to only $3.4 million, a savings of nearly , $700,000 . over .the projected, cost of $4.1 million. City Treasurer Bruce Decker, who is also Manager of the Sewer District, said the savings leaves the district two options: it can sell . the full amount of bonds approved in last spring's bond election and make improvements to the system, or it can decide not to sell $700,000 worth of bonds and save on initial costs so future sewer charges will increase at a . slower rate. . |
