Show Did You Know ? That in August of 1930 the old Kimball barn, in early stage coach days known as the Dexter stables is being torn down. This is one of the oldest landmarks in camp, and had to be torn down on account of installing the 8,000 gallon gasoline tank on the ground adjacent thereto. In 1895 or early 1896 a building spot was purchased for the L.D.S. Church. The books show that $1,136.49 was raised for the meeting house. Work was continued conti-nued in 1897 and nearly $1,200.00 was raised for the new chapel. A priesthood meeting was held in the basement of the new church at Park City March 1, 1897, the chapel being so far completed that the basement floor could be used. . November 19, 1898 It is five months since the fire occured and it has not quit burning yet. Smoke it still issuing from the rear part of ruins of the Grand Opera House in the southeast corner of the basement where the coal which supplied the furnace was stored. November 11, 1877 The Ontario Onta-rio boys are being paid off and the merchants are happy Bad as the roads are between here and Salt Lake, Jim Pierces stage is always on hand. Our citizens are about to kick for a daily mail. We want a daily mail and when a camp like this says so its got to come. A number of our citizens who have been rusticating here the past summer have concluded to winter in Coalville. Letters for them, to insure safe delivery, may be addressed "county jail". |
