Show $t&i & by Patricia Constable souls who do not have access to a sauna here's a suggestion for a home do it yourself sauna in your bedroom. First take a hot bath, as hot as you can tolerate. Then dry and wrap yourself in a heavy bath towel. Put plastic over your bed to protect it from perspiration lie on the rubber sheet, take a couple of hot water bottles and cover yourself with an electric blanket turned on high. Leave a crack for breathing. Use several heavy blankets if you have no electric blanket. Remain in bed while profuse sweating occurs half hour or more. Finish with a shower. Not quite the same atmosphere as the cedar benched room, but an alternative to nothing. Maybe the new health spa will make the cedar room type more accessible to us all. The bodies hearing forces are aided and assisted and healing is accelerated. The eliminative, detoxifying and cleansing capacity of the skin is dramatically increased by profine sweating. For those of us less fortunate Did you realize that the skin is our largest eliminative organ? And it is generally considered that the skin should eliminate 30 of our body wastes by way of perspiration. The general lack of stenous physical work in our present day society has unfortunately unfortun-ately caused the skin to degenerate degener-ate as a vital elminative organ. In other words, we just don't sweat enough! We do think alot though, and therefore have saunas to help revitalize the eliminative activities activi-ties of the skin. And with saunas no stenous activity is involved! Saunas can by way of overheating therapy which induces artificial fever and stimulates profuse sweating, revitalizes the cleansing cleans-ing activity of the skin. They should be taken regularly, once or ' twice a week for this purpose.
