Show P. G. BOYS FIND NEW CLUE IN HOWARD CASE SALT LAKE, Feb. 3. A new clew that may lead directly to I be grave of W. Ii. Howard, missing Salt Lake draftsman, who is believed to have been murdered about 'the middle of December, was announced by W. T. Ayhind, chief deputy sheriff, yesterday. yes-terday. It is the accidental discovery dis-covery of a mound by three young men of Pleasant Grove January IS. twenty miles cast of Las Vegas. N'ev.. tbe place where Howard was last heard from. December ID. VMS. The finders were Samuel Burns. -Vealy Matubcws and Abe Nelson of 'Pleasant Grove. They saw the mound both on the way and returning re-turning from the coast, the youths said, and were much impressed by it, lying, as it did, removed from habitation. They did not know at that time of the Howard disappearance, disappear-ance, but, on learning, of it on their return to Utah, believed that there might be some connection between it and their discovery. Captain Ayland said that he received re-ceived a call from someone sur-named sur-named Baxter Monday morning ami this man informed him that the three Utah county boys might have some information for bun. The captain cap-tain and Arthur S. Nichols, traffic deputy, went to Pleasant Grove ami interrogated Burns and Nelson. It appears that tbe three were on heir way to California when, about twenty miles east of Las Vegas, near a railroad trestle, a tire h'ew out. They were unable to reirair it ami it fell to t he lot of Burns to go three miles to a service station, leaving leav-ing the others. The natural impulse to explore wliile waiting came to the -other hoys, and their eyes fell upon an advertising sign seven ty-Pive feet off the road, the base of which was concealed from the highway. The hoys found what they claim was a relatively new mound of earth. . O of the youths suggested that il might he an improvised grave for a dog. but the olhor observed that it wan too long.
