Show bam Jones Makes a Thousand Conrerts. The greatest meeting that has ever been held in Richmond, and probably in the country, was the one conducted by the Rev. Sam Jones. It waa for men only. , The Tabernacle scats 11,000 persons. Every seat was taken, and not less than 1,000 stood np. 'On the outside of the structure were probably 1,000 more, and hundreds went away when they found they could not get seats. Not less than 14,000 or lo.OOO men came to hear the preacher. The sermon had a powerful effect upon tho congregation. At its close Mr. Jones asked all who would promise to live better bet-ter lives and give up sinful habits to stand np. Not less than 10,000 men arose. It was a sight never seen hero. The preacher then asked all who were not church members and who wanted to become Christians to come up and shake his hand. Hundreds pressed forward with tears in their eyes. Not nearly all could get to the preacher, as the crowd was so dense. It is estimated that no) less than 1,000 persons were converted, among them many solid and substantial business men.
