Show Area Obituaries Lola Owens Barton HIGHLAND Lola Owens Barton, age 80, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Oct. 19, 2001 in American Fork after an extended extend-ed illness. Lola was born Aug. 10, 1921 in Panguitch, the third of nine children born to Joseph and Ruth Dodds Owens. She married mar-ried Joseph Lorenzo Barton in the St. George LDS Temple Nov. 1, 1939. Lola's greatest joy was her family, friends, and her faith. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving 19 years in the Stake Relief Society Presidency in Henderson, Nev. She and her husband served three missions together in Harrisburg, Penn.; Nauvoo, 111.; and Bristol, England. She is beloved by all and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband hus-band of 62 years and their five sons and five daughters: Joseph G. (Carolyn) Barton, Albany, Oregon; E. Kay (Carol) Barton, American Fork; Roma (Richard) (Rich-ard) Gilmore, Highland; Janet (Jan T.) Bennett, Henderson, ' Nev.; Shirley (Larry) Gibson, Highland; Jack (Vickie) Barton, Henderson, Nev.; Neal (Tammy) Barton, Panguitch; Richard (Corinne) Barton, Henderson, Nev.; Joyce Bennett, Panguitch; ! 1 ' Lola Barton Betty Ann (Kimball) Wirig, Highland; 49 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Georgie Cuff and Betty (Lewis ) Brown; and two brothers, Ted (Christine) Owens and Wayne (Marlene) Owens. She was preceded pre-ceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Norma Owens and' Sarah Owens Brady; and two brothers, Jack and Glayde Owens. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 1 1 a.m in the Highland 10th LDS Ward, 6400 West 11000 No. (Highway 92), where friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Panguitch City ' Cemetery Wednesday at noon. Carroll Merlin "Smitty" Smith PANGUITCH Carroll Merlin "Smitty" Smith, 71, of Panguitch, passed away on Oct. 20, 2001 in St. George, Utah. He was born, Feb. 2, 1930 in Fostoria, Ohio to Albert Roy and Ethel Jane Lanning Smith. He married Jolene Sevy on January 22, 1976 in Panguitch, the marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple, July 17, 1981. His family includes, wife, Jolene of Panguitch; six children, chil-dren, Michael A. (Michelle) Smith of Las Vegas, Nev., Loreen Brooks of Indianapolis, Ind, Tiffnie (David) Henrie of Albuquerque, NM, Sunnie Kaye (John) Harding, Chris R. (Erica) Smith and Michelle Hatch all of Panguitch; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother broth-er and sisters: Kevin (Kit) Smith of Reno, Nev., Rhea Laird of Tucson and Charlotte ONeal of Riverside, Calif. He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Effie Smith and brother, Arlin D. Smith. Our loving husband, father and grandfather, you have left us but your gentleness and memories memo-ries will always be with us. You are loved very much by your family. You will be remembered by all for the pride and perfection perfec-tion you took in your work. That pride is evident by all the beautiful log homes throughout our southern Utah mountains. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in the Panguitch Pan-guitch 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 550 South 100 West, where friends may call on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery with military rites by the Panguitch American Legion Post 25. Funeral directors: Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. He had a great appreciation for the staff of the Garfield Memorial Hospital and Dixie Regional Medical Centers TCU. Jay LaMotte Houston HENDERSON, NV.PAN-GUITCH, NV.PAN-GUITCH, UT Jay LaMotte Houston, age 58, died October 15, 2001, in Henderson, Nev. He was born Nov. 16, 1942, in Panguitch, to Jay Frank Houston Jr. and Tennys Slack. He attended schools in Panguitch where he was an honor student and class valedictorian. valedic-torian. He attended Boys State and received a full scholarship to the University of Utah, where he graduated in pharmacy with honors. He returned to Panguitch to work in the Rexall Drug Store owned by the Marshall family. He married Sandra Ott on Nov. 25, 1967. They lived in Washington for four years where he worked for Bateman Drug and Skaggs Drug; lived in Blythe, Calif, for 17 years where he worked at Blythe Drug; lived in San Jacinto, Calif, where he worked at Smiths Food and Drug. They were currently living in Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev. where he worked for Merck Pharmaceuticals. Survivors include his wife Sandra of Henderson, Nev.; son, Adam (Teresa) Houston of Blythe, Calif.; grandchild, Adam Thomas of Blythe, Calif; mother, Tennys Houston of Washington; sister, Annette Julander (Richard) of Salt Lake City; brother, Bruce Houston (Sherry) of Salt Lake City; Sandra's Parents, Wallace and Mary Ott or Tropic; nieces, nephews; and Sandra's brothers and sisters and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Frank Houston Jr.; and two sets of grandparents. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at 12 noon in the Panguitch Stake Center, 550 S. 100 W., in Panguitch. Services were officiated by Bishop Clark Howard of the Panguitch LDS. 1st Ward. Family prayer was offered by Wallace Ott with prelude and postlude music provided by Karen Ott. Ott, Lloyd Ott, and Brent Ott. Burial was at the Georgetown Cemetery near Cannonville. and the dedication of the grave was offered by Sherrell Ott. Irene Wilson King Inglott PANGUITCHBOULDER, UT Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001 at the Boulder LDS Ward Chapel for Irene Wilson King Inglott who died Oct. 14, 2001 in Panguitch. Services were officiated by with prelude and postlude music provided by Gladys LeFevre. Family prayer was offered by Gaden Griffin, followed by the invocation by Mala Shakespear. Karen Palmer and Camille Ballard sang a musical number, "I'm Calling Your Name," with remembrances recited by the grandchildren with Gaden Griffin providing the introduction. introduc-tion. Max Wilson spoke with a musical selection, "Harvest Time," rendered by Gary Dean, Raymond and Dean Shurtz. A tribute was given by Margie Ence, Linda King, Ann Reynolds and Gerry Hitt. Farlan Behunin offered remarks, followed by the grandchildren grand-children singing "Goodnight Irene." Karen Griffin provided the benediction. Pallbearers were Gary Dean Shurtz, Raymond King Shurtz, Gaden Griffin,. Stuart Tom Reynolds, Gaetano Bongiorno, Jason C. Reynolds, Dan Hitt and Scott Dylyn Hall. Honorary pallbearers were William Keith "Bill" Wilson, Tom S. Reynolds, Floyd Ence, Max Wilson, Gary Wilson, Rick Palmer, Steve Cox, Kevin Cox, Doug Hall, George Pearson, Lynne Shakespear, Rich Valeika and Chad Seifert. Interment was in the Boulder Cemetery with dedication of the grave delivered by William "Bill" Wilson. Services were under the direction of Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. |
