Show GSCALMJTG UGl'JS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Mae Vonn Taylor's kids all came home a couple of weeks ago and cleaned her yards while they were here. Sounds like a wonderful gift to me! Jerry and Monica Taylor and kids, Jimmy and Ethel Taylor and kids and Louie and Janalee Bernardo all participated. They will probably proba-bly all be here for the hunt, so hope MaeVonn hasn't cluttered the yard again! Eva Dean Liston came home with Ethel Taylor. She has been "up North with her daughters most of the summer. Utahna Poulson in Salt Lake, Lola Alvey in Mapleton and Beth Blakey in Springville. Her son-in-law, Jim Alvey was in town for a short visit One day. Thais Griffin has been dividing divid-ing her time between her two daughters. She visited with Melanie Johnston and family in Las Vegas, Nevada and Stephanie Volker in St. George. She was gone 10 days. Just can't stay away from those cute grandbabies ! A large congregation gathered gath-ered in the LDS Second Ward last Sunday for the farewell testimonial tes-timonial of David Munson, son of Reed and Karen Munson. Family members from out of town were: Milan and Brenda Munson, Blanding; Dee and Maurine Nelson and son, Garrett, Centerville; Barbara Munson, Orem; Karen's parents, par-ents, Earl and Gertrude McEwen, Ogden; Tony and Mindy Peterson, Cedar City. Family friends, Dan and Abbie Gardner, whose home is in Salt Lake City, but they have a summer sum-mer home in Boulder. A large number of David's college friends were in attendance, as well as half the congregation from the First Ward. Stacy Davis played a musical number on her bagpipes, which was very fitting, as David will be going to Scotland. He was flown to England to attend the Missionary Training Center before going into the mission field. Nelda Munson has been in Orem with her daughter, Barbara, and came home with her for David's farwell. She will stay home for a while now. Karen says she seems to be in good spirits. We miss seeing her out and about. Sondra Boulter, Lehi, came by to get her mom, Velma Boulter and the two of them drove to California to visit Sondra's son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Leah Lund. Gary is stationed at Vandenburg Air Force Base and will soon receive a promotion to Major. The Lunds have four children and the grandmas enjoyed taking tak-ing in all their athletic games, etc. while they were there. Velma also found a few dollar stores for entertainment! Twila Mclneliy invited some friends in for lunch, to celebrate the birthdays of Betty Alvey and Clorene Vidrine. Unlike Twila, Betty and Clorene are right at that in-between stage when you don't advertise your age. Right girls? Twila is expecting all her sons to come for the deer hunt. Congratulations to Melissa Mclneliy and Gregory Stone who will be married on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Salt Lake City. Melissa is the daughter of Vern and Kathy Mclneliy, Escalante. Gregory is the son of Phillip and Dianne Stireman and Keith Stone. A reception will be held that same evening in Salt Lake City and another one in Escalante on Nov. 10. Escalante relatives of Malen Mecham went to his 90th birthday birth-day party, in Tropic, on Saturday, Oct. 13. This included includ-ed Klyn and Marlene Haws; Deon Alvey and her daughter Raylene Whitefield and granddaughter grand-daughter Jessica Whitefield of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lane and Geraldine Liston and their granddaughter, Emily Clark of Cannonville. The party was a great tribute to Malen and fun for the cousins and extended family members to get together. Malen said he didn't feel a bit older than he did a couple of weeks ago! Our condolences to Tracy and Alisha Esplin at the loss of Alisha's father, Steve Hatch of Panguitch. Steve was well known and well liked in the Escalante area. He worked in this area quite a lot. Tracy Esplin is our new United Parcel Service man in town and he and Alisha have four adorable little girls. Congratulations to John Yardley, Panguitch, who also spends a little time in Escalante. He was just called to be a member mem-ber of the 5th Quorum of the Seventy in the LDS Church. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy! Guess that's it for this week. When you get tired of hearing about me and mine. ..try reporting report-ing to me about thee and thine. |
