Coach Dan Leatherwoods Taylorsville Warriors cracked the win column in Region Two Friday night by outlasting hobbled Kearns Both teams will end their Region Two seasons with Tuesday games. Taylorsville has a bye tomorrow 69-6- lead back in the third period and held a 9 edge going into the last eight minutes, but the Warriors scored 20 points and would not be denied. Cougar Jeff Pace led all scorers with 24 (10, 4x7), but the Warriors kept the ball away from John Hatch, who had 12, eight of those from the line. Karl Michaelis and Craig Houtz scored 13 each for the Warriors and Jason Almond added 12, many from long range. 52-4- hosts (Friday) while Kearns Bingham. On Tuesday the Cougars travel to Hillcrest and Taylorsville to Bingham. Both are out of the race for state. After playing Skyline tough in a losing cause, Coach Ed Gray and his Granger Lancers will be cheering for the Eagles to continue their winning ways tomorrow (Friday). If the Lancers can get by winless Granite in a home contest and Skyline beats the hobbled Olympus Titans, the Lancers will have a breath of life in the race for state by virtue of a playoff with Olympus for the final berth from region three, a game to be played at a neutral site early next week. The winner of that contest would go into the tournament against and defending champion Brighton. Granger lost a tough 0 contest to Skyline Friday, forcing the Eagles to play their type of contest. But Skyline was disciplined enough that the Lancers could never get in front, although Skyline hit only 14x29 from the charity stripe.
