Lisa will be missed by all of her friends and teachers. Replacing Lisa as vice president will be Guy Timothy. The answer is . . . maybe. Granger has had to face a lot of tough teams this year, Cottonwood being the biggest challenge, according to Coach Gray. Even though the region is Granger has very good tough, chances of going to state, commented Coach Gray. Although Granger isnt recognized as a real What they lack in powerhouse, height, they make up in hustle and desire, the coach said of the Lancer players. The team also has a hot outside game. We have to have a patient offense, admitted Gray, because we arent that tall. Even though the season hasnt been quite as successful as they had hoped, the Lancers are still eligible to qualify for state. This weeks game against Granite will be the deciding factor. If our guys win, they will participate in the state tournament at the Special Events Center March Show the team that you care and are behind them 100 percent; come to the game against Granite 7:30 Friday at Granger. Admission is free with an activity card. Speaking of basketball and state tournaments brings us to the girls team. The girls basketball team has put forth good efforts this year. The girls have had big wins against Kearns, Bingham, Taylorsville and East. The last game was on Tuesday against Granite. The chances of qualifying for the state 4A tournament were also .good. Check with Coach Stoker or assistant Coach Bullock or one of the players to find out the verdict. The girls team is made up of sophomores Kristin McKendrick, Annette Wilding, Debra Suchil and Janet Durfey. Lisa Whitworth is the only returning starter and leading scorer Monique Helphenstine and Lisa Bonella4serve as varsity team captains. Captains of the jayvee team are Heather Bonella and Debra Suchil. Other team members are Chris Bailey, Melissa Bawden, Chris Behunin, Traci Olsen, Cheri Palmer, Angela Parker, Annette Perkins, Jennifer Potts, Carla Smith, Karma Lyn Thorpe and Misty Warenski. The state tournament is March 11 and 12. Shauna McConkie is currently competing in the National Business Career Scholarship as Utahs representative. If Shauna is successful in this national competition, she will receive $3,000 to $10,000 toward the college or university of her choice. She plans to attend Weber State and major in, what else, business administration. 18-2- JHS Students Advance In Competition Two students from KEARNS. Kearns junior high have earned a place in the final rounds of the first Utah Council for Computers in Education competition. The programming contest will be held tomorrow (Friday) at the Excelsior Hotel in Provo. Sheldon Foster, eighth grade, took fourth place in the finals, with George McEwan, ninth grade finishing sixth. The preliminary contest involved more than 300 students representing 22 high schools and 13 junior highs. Twenty-twhigh school and 13 junior high students were invited to participate in the final contest for placement in the Friday rounds. o .
