Show Nov. the 25th is Thanksgiving this year. Did you ever see any prettier fall anywhere than we are having hav-ing right here? We never did, not even away down in Texas. All we have needed here to make it ideal is a little rain to lay the dust and sprout the fall grain. Don't Go too Strong Last Monday Jeff Clark called on us and gave us a local advev-- advev-- tising "for sale" a bull calf . which he says is the nearest ! perfect animal he has ever seen. ! Also setting his paper ahead a ! notch. ' Mr. Clark is an old dairyman ' and creamery man and speaking ' of the shipment of dairy cattle ' into the country he told us some ' things which are of vital impor-1 impor-1 tance for the purchaser of such cattle to remember, chief among which is to see whether or not i his contemplated purchase is i really a ' paying dairy cow or a 1 cull or a beef critter. Also a ' very important matter is to make sure, before buying, how many ; good dairy cattle he can prof-; prof-; itably take care of and furnish ; feed for. ; After looking at the matter ; from various angles we would ; suggest that should there be a bunch of cattle shipped into the country it might be well for the farmers who wish to make purchase to buy them according to the selection of a committee which could be appointed to examine ex-amine and test the cattle and grade them according to the test. We would think that a committeeman from the North side and one from the South side, together with Demonstrator Demonstrat-or Welch, could accomplish this purpose satisfactory and if those shipping in the stock have dairy cattle there would be no objection objec-tion to a test. If they haven't, and have placed all the good cattle cat-tle elsewhere, they may object and in that case we are better off without them. |
