Show PRISONER RETURNS Due to arrive this week end at his home in Hurricane, is Eldon Wright, Electician's Mate third class of the United States Navy, who is at last free after 22 months of improsonment in Tokyo. He phoned relatives Tuesday eveninging from Oakland, Calif., where his ship the USS Ozark had just docked after the voyage from Guam. Writing from headquarters soon after his liberation' he said he was one of 21, and the only electrician out of 12 to survive the horrors of Japanese imprisonment, imprison-ment, of the 84 taken from the USS Sculpin on Nov. 8, 1943. He has received some mail during his long imprisonment, and has been able to get one message out to his father, Howard Wright of Hurricane and sister, Mrs. Lynn Naegle of Toquerville. At times he thought the war would never end and can hardly realize he is actually liberated, and fighting has ceased. |
