With the exception of three units North Davis, Weber jand South Summit war fund organizations or-ganizations in every county of the state began their canvass Monday morning, October 1. Until the last day of the month, the fund workers will carry on until quotas are reached or exceeded. "The 1945 campaign will be the last one. The National War Fund's goal of $115,000,000 will be used either to carry on the work of the agencies until January, 1947, or will finance them until liquidation. Utah has done a splendid job of meeting and exceeding ex-ceeding its quota during the past two years and, from early reports reaching our office from some counties and local districts, this campaign will repeat the success of preceding ones." ' The outstanding feature of the week's activities in the National War Fund drive was the address broadcast through a nation-wide hookup Tuesday evening by President Presi-dent Truman, formally inaugurating inaugurat-ing the campaign in all states where fall appeals are held. Lee Adams has been appointed as county chairman, while Bert Truman headline drive locally. |
