Show Dixie College News Dr. Clarence Cottam, a native Dixieite and now chief of the U. S. Wild Life Investigations, with headquarters in Chicago, was a Dixie college visitor Monday. With him was Dr. J. B. Low of the department of Forestry, Range and Wild Life at the Utah State Agricultural college. Dr. Charles A. Smith of the Veterans Administration in Salt Lake City consulted last week with a number of veterans concerning con-cerning their problems of getting into sphrviT Ar ; rpsnTf several returned servicemen will enroll soon at Dixie. The Dixie college studentbody will make a week-end trip to Lake Mead, reports Elvvyn Cameron, Camer-on, studentbody president, who is in charge of the outing. Students will attended the football foot-ball game at Hurricane and then travel by truck to the take via Overton. A campfire program will be held Friday night on the shore of the lake, and boating wilT be featured Saturday. The group will return Saturday night. Mr. Cameron expects 150 students ta-make ta-make the trip. The costumes worn by students attending Dixie today are not products of the class in costume designing. They are merely the j cloaks of the freshmen, who are i undergoing initiation penalties im- ; posed by the sophomores. j Misha Bentley and Georgia Frost were elected as cheer leaders lead-ers by the Dixie college student-body student-body last Friday. Several cheer teams displayed their talent in assembly Friday morning, with voting taking place in the after- noon. The student council later i appointed Stanley Jones, another popular contestant, to assist the cheer team. 1 The Women's Athletic association associa-tion of the college is conducting a volley hall tournament this : week. The college faculty tried their I skill at miniture golf in their first social of the year Wednesday night. Following their experience' i they enjoyed a delicious supper. I M. J. Miles was chairman of the committee in charge. Assisting him wore H. L. Roid, Charles N. Morkley and Miss Myrtle Henderson. Hender-son. College classes will be dismissed dismis-sed Thursday and Friday of next week. The entire faculty will attend at-tend the convention meetings of; the Utah Education Association in! Salt Lake City October 11-13. |
