Show I SOCIETY NEVS Ted Rowland who is attending school in California is spending the hoLrTays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amasia Rowland. Jim Wil- ikins has also returned from Richmond, Rich-mond, Calif., to spend the holidays I in Utah. I Mrs. Thelma Clark was hostess to members of the S. T. club at their annual Christmas party, Monday night, at her home. Following Fol-lowing a delicious hot supper, bridge was featured with high Jscore prize for the games won by Mrs. Gwon Baxter. From a beautifully beau-tifully decorated tree gifts were exchanged among those present. The entertaining rooms and luncheon lunch-eon tables were attractively decorated decor-ated for the occasion miniature Christmas trees being used as place cards. There were twelve members present, Mrs. Floss Philips Phil-ips being welcomed as a new member. occasion. The party began with a luncheon served to 36 members and guests. Following luncheon all participated in community singing sing-ing of Christmas songs. Elden Mackley of Mapleton entertained with vocal solos, accompanied by his sister during the evening. Mrs. Nellie Burt gave a Christmas : story; Mrs. Bernice Hutchinson, Christmas poems; Fred Childs, a I cornet solo, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Eva Crandall; a se-I se-I lection by the Mother's Study club I chorus; a reading, "Thanks on Christmas," by Mrs. Menette Bird, t At the close of the evening gifts j were exchanged among those pres-j pres-j ent, and an especially enjoyable time was spent by all. Keith Kennedy and Miss Edna Kennedy of Salina spent several days of the past week with friends and relatives in this city. A nicely arranged party was given Thursday night, at the home, of Mrs. E. T. Crandall, when she was hostess to members of the Ladies' Literary club at their annual an-nual Christmas party. Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Grooms and Mrs. Elizabeth Salisbury assisted with entertainment entertain-ment of the eveniner. In the early evening a tasty and well arranged luncheon was served at small tables, each of which' was beautifully beauti-fully centered with hemlock and tall green tapers. Sprays of hol-ley hol-ley formed unique place cards. A variety of games featured the en-tertainmnt, en-tertainmnt, the winner, Mrs. Lela Packard, receiving a prize for the best score during the evening. Silver Stars over the mantle led the resDective members to their gifts which were distributed from a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. In attendance were 18 members mem-bers and guests. President Ruby Christensen announce! the hus-1 band's party to be held January 9, at her home. Members of the First ward Primary under the direction of Mrs. Marie Stone, president, entertained en-tertained at a Christmas party at her home last Wednesday evening. A program of games together with a delicious lunch featured the occasion oc-casion which was climaxed with the exchange of Christmas gifts. Mrs. Wilson of Spanish Fork and Miss Catherine Kirk. Members of the John Averett family were entertained at their annual Christmas party, Saturday night, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Clements. All spent an enjoyable en-joyable time with games, social chat and music followed by a delicious de-licious lunch and the exchange of Christmas gifts. The entertainment en-tertainment was under the direction direc-tion of Marie Hooper, John Mcpherson Mc-pherson and Margaret McPherson. A nicely arranged program featured feat-ured the affair with a violin solo, by Vern Davis; a vocal duet, Carter Car-ter Cody; a vocal duct, Mrs. Arthur Arth-ur and Mrs. Peters; readings, Norma Sanford; and. Paula Ostler; duet, Sanford sisters; Christmas story, LeRoy Kuehl; piano solo, Mrs. D. B. Welch; vocal solo, Mrs. Wilford Bl'anchard. Following the program, Santa Claus appeared and distributed candv and oranges to the children. Gifts were also exchanged during the evening. Mrs. Elaine Parcell was hostess to members of the Jeune Mere club at her home in Provo, Thursday Thurs-day night. The affair was the annual Christmas party, and the; home Tvas beautifullv decorated for the occasion. A feature of the program was the reading of three one-act plays, "Manson," "Hearts to Mend," and "avid Star of Bethlehem," Mrs. Fred Dixon. Gifts were exchanged and a tasty lunch was served during the evening eve-ning to the following members and guests: Mrs. Florence Allen, Mrs. Lucille Childs, Mrs. True Clyde, Mrs. Edna Clyde, Mrs. Fay Hay-mond, Hay-mond, Mrs. Maurine Haymond, Mrs. Beth Jensen, Mrs. Florence Nelson, Mrs. Naomi Thorn, Mrs. Marie Whiting, Mrs. Mabel Wright, Mrs. Helen Haymond and Mrs. Irene Bird, the latter two being guests. One of the outstanding Christmas Christ-mas parties of the past week was that of the Second ward Bee Hive eirls of the Lily Pond swarm Monday Mon-day evening, Dec. 21st-.- They met at the home of their Bee Keeper, Mrs. Maily S. Boyer, and a very entertaining time was spent playing play-ing games and exchanging gifts. The big event of the evening was the opening of their own stockings filled by the girls present. Each girl played Santa Claus by putting put-ting a pleasant surprise in each of the stockings, hanging about the room. A two course luncheon was served carrying out the Christmas colors. The entertaining rooms were beautifully decorated pertaining per-taining to Christmas. Those present pres-ent were Misses Shirley Bagley, Phyllis Boyer, Lela Miner, Lula Fox, Jacqueline Senior, Alma Lowe, Roma Tuttle, Helen. Huntington, Hunt-ington, Carma Crandall, Mildred Fullmer, Thora Hafen, Genevieve Hales, and Mrs. Mary S. Boyer. One of the large and successful Christmas parties of the week was held Thursday night, when Mrs. Bell Childs entertained members of the Mothers Study club at her home. A gorgeous Christmas tree with corresponding room decorations decora-tions added to the spirit of the A number of friends delightfully surprised Miss Luella Huntington at her home last Tuesday evening, the occasion being her thirteenth birthday. Following a delightful time with games, a tasty and prettily arranged luncheon was served by Mrs. Huntington, who was assisted by her daughter, Marie. There were present, Helen Christensen, Louise Clyde, Shirley Marshbanks, Louise Long, Wilna Brown, Lucille Oakley, Marjorie Simkins, Helen Clegg, Bernice Chader, Doris Wing, Phylis Bird i and Luella. Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Boyer accompanied accom-panied by Mr. and Mrs. Heber Houtz and Spender Sumsion returned re-turned the past week from a delightful de-lightful trip to California. They not only ottendedthe national farm bureau convention at Pasadena, but spent several days visiting places of interest along the . west coast and also at Boulder City where they visited the dam. Mr. and Mrs. Elia Harmer left the past week to spend a vacation vaca-tion at places of interest in California. Cali-fornia. Members of the Busy Finger club were delightfully entertained Thursday night, at the home of Mrs. La Vern Beardall.
