Show Kathleen Carlson Is State 4-H Award Winner Kathleen Carlson, 17, a senior in Pleasant Grove High School, was named 1960 state award winner win-ner by the Cooperative Extension Exten-sion Service. Kathleen is the "beautif ication of home grounds expert. Kathleen, who lives on a 165-acre 165-acre farm, achieved great results in her one-year beautif ication of home grounds project. She sta'rt-ed sta'rt-ed with tilling and fertilizing the soil. She then planted lawn, flowers, flow-ers, shrubs and evergreen trees, and irrigated them. For finishing finish-ing touches, she repaired sidewalks, side-walks, painted the gate to the service area and put up a new fence. Kathleen has won blue ribbons in community, county and state contests on her various 4-H projects pro-jects and activities. She has served ser-ved as junior leader and held top offices in the Kitchen Rangers 4-H Club. Mrs. Charles R. Walgreen, donor don-or in this program, provided an inscribed 19-jewel wrist watch for Miss Carlson. |
