They will continue to be mailed for several weeks. Chairman of the Board of Health Industries, Inc., Mr. Rice made a plea to Utahns to "use the colorful seals on your mail and packages, and answer your Christmas Seal letter with a generous contribution to help in the fight against respiratory disease." Christmas Seals are the principal source of funds for the Utah Lung Association formerly the Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Associa- -- self-care- tion. Each seal depicts one of the days in the popular song. "Placing the festive seals on the back of envelopes and on parkages, not only brightens up the winter season, but serves as a reminder that each Christmas Seal contribution will bring better lung health to each citizen, his family and his community," Mr. Rirc said. Christmas Seal funds have this year made possible the development of lung disease diagnostic and treatment centers, including the establishment of Christmas Seal Respiratory Disease Self-CarClasses in Cedar City and Roosevelt for people of Southern Utah and the Uintah Rasin respectively. Plans are to expand this community service to other areas as funds become available. The Utah Lung Association is presently engaged in the development of home care programs for people with chronic pulmonary disease. Motorists art urged to maintain caution through the area as the contractor's crews complete landscaping, fencing and other miscellaneous jobs adjacent to the roadway. The first of these sections began construction in May of 1971 and ran from Bluffdale Road to Alpine Road. The second section began in April of 1972 and rar. from Alpine Road to North Lchi, to conned with existing Interstate. W. W. Clyde & Company of Spring-ville- , Utah, is the contractor for both sections. Total cost of both contracts, including railroad relocation and the Alpine interchange, is $6,856,441.00. With the opening of these two sections motorists can enjoy freeway driving for 102 miles along the Wasatch Front from Hot Springs north of Ogden to South Santaquin. Traffic recently has been using the southbound lanes of these new sections as a four-lanhighway. Southbound traffic will rcamin restricted to two lanes until can be facilitated. The old Point of the Mountain road had long been considered extremely treacherous, particularly during snow storms. Statistically, during 1972 Point of the Mountain had a low accident rale of 0.9M accidents per million miles of travel, compared to the state average of 4.5 accidents per million miles of travel. During the last three years however, there have been eight fatalities at the Point which have given this section a particularly bad reputation with regard to safety. Interstate highways have proven to be twice as safe as conventional roads and highway officials anticipate that the opening of these new sections will lower the accident rate even further. state Highway non-sto- e NINETY YEARS--"Happy Birthday" was celebrated by Edelbert Thomas on his 90th birthday, October 10. broiler Place fish on pan.
