October 25, 1973 The I am rrally Chamber Maid Roosevelt Area Chamber of Commerce By Paula O. Bell We had a good Chamber of Commerce meeting last Thursday evening with Dr. Lowe of Utah State University presenting the program on Shoplifting. I was real pleased with the support we received from three or four stores. I will say that I was disappointed that other stores were not represented at the meeting. I do believe that some that needed it most were not there to partake of the information given which would help them combat the problem of shoplifting. We had seventeen members and 12 guests present Most of the guests comprised clerks of stores. I feel that the entire program was a real success and that taking the program to the Jr. high and Union high made it a well rounded source of information to the people who could benefit mast from it. Thanks to everyone who supported this program. Socialette Club presented a Beauty for Business Award to Cam Harms too, owner of the Frontier Grill and Motel, for the improvement which they have made to their business, making it more attractive. Mantyla, Dr. Mantyla to present Dental Clinic Dr. D. G. Mantyla will present a clinic at the American Dental Association National Convention in Houston, Texas, tober 27 to November 1. His presentation is entitled, "Protection of Dental PerOc- sonnel Through Proper Mercury Hygiene". It is a culmination of many months of research by Dr. Mantyla. A clinic was presented earlier this year at the Utah State Dental Convention in Salt (Sly by him, and he had an article published in the June issue of Dental Survey, a national dental magazine. Dr. Mantyla has been pursuing this research project in conjunction with the Utah State Division of Dental Health, the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Occupational Safety and Health, and will continue his work in this field of research. He has been a practicing dentist in Duchesne and Roosevelt since 1951, and has lived here with his wife, Colleen. They have three children, Donald a senior student in at the University of Utah, Meredith a sophomore at BYU and Marty a junior at Union high Koch driver nnnn Ran across the following which I would like to share: The longer a man works the more he realizes that organizations seem to be governed by certain mystical, unalterable mo- ving into our new office. However, I must say, I have enjoyed sharing the office with Von Haslem and the Call Engineering Firm. Certainly want to thank Von for letting us set up temporarily in the front of his real estate office. This made it possible for us to get a good start with the lack of office space being as it is. Thanks Von. The new office will be out of the main business a bit, but I do hope everyone will take the opportunity to stop and see the new facilities. We will have a large parking lot in the rear of the bulding. Ill have to give Mont Larsen a pat on the back for all the good work he has done on the old building to make it so attractive and useful as an office - and beginning of a museum. I guess I had not lictler leave LaRue out, as I saw her down there using a little elbow grease. I was thinking the other day that Mont & LaRue really have done a lot to clean up and fix up a lot of older places around laws. Some of the most famous of these are: MURPHY'S LAW: If something can go wrong, it wilL WEILER'S LAW: Nothing is impossible for the man who doesn't have to do it himself CHISOLM'S LAW: Anytime things appear to be going better, you have overlooked something. FINAGLES LAW: Once a job is fouled up anything done to improve it makes it worse. CRANE'S LAW: There is no such thing as a free lunch. And to add the fronting to the cake: The difference between a cute little rascal and a potential juvenile delinquent is whether he is your child or somebody else's. Thought you'd like that, (Continued from page 1) organ is in place in the chapel. The grand piano which the ward has had for several years has been refurbished, and is also presently in the new chapel, with other new pianos as needed in the building. The foyers and chapel feature full car peting, and hallways are tiled. An added feature of the new structure is the ample par king areas. It is felt that adequate par king is available for any meetings of the ward. After this Sunday, all of the meetings of the ward will be held in the new building, and the old structure will be dismantled. IN DUCHESNE Reed Orem Murr, Craig, Colo., was injured when the Koch fuel truck he was driving went out of control and turned over Tuesday, October 16. The accident occured at about 2:15 p.m., approximately 10 miles east of Roosevelt on highway 40. According to investigating patrolman, Spencer Redman of the Highway Patrol, Mr. Murr was traveling east and while attempting to pass another vehicle, went off the left side of the road. When the vehicle came back on the highway, the trailer went out of control and rolled both truck and trailer. The road was blocked for approximately two hours with wreckage and debris and the 8,000 gallon of crude oil the tanker was carrying was spread over the south side of the highway and in the east bound lane. Damage to the truck was estimated to be 953,000. It was completely totaled. The driver was taken to the Duchesne County hospital where he received emergency treatment and waa enroute to Salt Lake by plane when he died. Mr. Murr was 42 years of age and was employed by Koch Industries, Inc. The community will really miss Jim's participation in the scouting program, politics, Church and the many other things which Jim has done to help our community grow. Jim was an honorary life member of the Chamber of Commerce, and to my knowledge the only honorary member of the C of C. We appreciated Jim for all of the many line things and which he stood for. He will long be remembered throughout the Basin for his many accomplishments. We certainly mourn the passing of such a devoted citizen and friend as Jim.
