A cwmiidiiiM IKE THURSDAY, OCTOBER at Union will be October 26 HOOSfVUI STANDARD. nd THE UINTAH IASIN RECORD 25, 1973 The FFA and FHA, Union high school are sponsoring the Harvest Ball to be held October 26. They have chosen for this years title, "Autumn Highlights". The anual affair will follow the e football game which will begin at 7 p.m. The dance will Ik from 9 to 12 p.m. Admission to the dance will be $1.50 per person and those attending should plan on being in their best dress. The "Free and Easy", will furnish music fr the dance. Highlight of the evening is the selection of the Harvest Ball Queen and King, who will reign over the affair. Those nominated for queen are Jeri Ksplin, Leah Cook, Cheri Workman, Son-j- a Cuch and Peggy Nelson. Those nominated for Harvest Ball King are Wess Griffin, Dale Nyberg, Harry Dahlberg, Bruce Dart and Mirhael (Mike) Wardle. Everyone is invited. Union-tirantsvill- of the Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce and has twice served as President of the Uon's Club. He was instrumental in working for the passage of the State legislation paving the way for a local Junior college. He has twenty-fivyears experience as an insurance agent. He and his wife, Veda, are the parents of two sons. Peoples Party in Roosevelt list candidates HOLLIS HULLINGER... Candidate for the People's Party. Mayor for NELSON CARTER councilman . . . Candidate for for the People's Party. e The People's Party in Roosevelt last week filed notice that three candidates had been nominated for city positions in the municipal elections to be held Nov. 7. Nominated to run for Mayor was Hollis Hullinger. Councilman nominations went to Nelson Carter and Lawrell Jensen. Mr. hullinger has been a resident of the Roosevelt area since 1938. Very active in community service, Hollis has been a member of the Roosevelt City Council, served as a member of the County Board of Education for eight years, a former President of the Lion's Club, a former Director of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the U.B.I.B, Chairman of the Committee to obtain the Uintah Basin Education Center (UBEC) and Chairman of the Hospital Bonding Committee (securing the Duchesne County Hospital for Roosevelt). He has been the owner and manager of the Hullinger Bottling Co., in Roosevelt for the past fifteen years. Hollis has been active as a Scout er, and received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America for his work therein. He has twice served as a Bishop and once as a Stake President in the LDS Church. He and his wife, Elaine, are the parents of seven children. Mr. Carter, who is the assistant manager of First Security Bank's Roosevelt office, received his degree in Agriculture Economics from BYU in 1969, and is a member of the American Institute of Banking. He is a former farmer, and held the position of Nevada State President of the FFA and also the position of National Delegate in 1964 and 1965. Nelson is presently completing his sixth year of service in the Army National Guard. He has studied Hebrew and Middle East history in Jerusalem for a time and gives frequent public lectures on these subjects. Nelson is married to the former Nancy Ann Smith, and is the father of three children. Mr. Jensen is a twenty-fiv- e year resident of the city of Roosevelt. For of those years he has served twenty-fou- r as a school administrator locally, first as the Principal of Union high school and then as the Principal of Roosevelt junior high school. Lawrell has been president member attends Community Pride conference 4-- H Mary Beth Murray accompanied by Marie Hale, Duchesne county Home Agent, attended a two day Community Pride Conference sponsored by Standard Oil Company of California. Councilman Note, City residents It isn't news that Union Cougars lost the football game Thursday to the Wasatch Wasps 6 0 and that brings us to the last game of the year, which will be played on Union's gridiron at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. The Cougars will take on Grantsville's Cowboys, rated one in the league at that time. In spite of the loss Allamont is not in last place in the region, that honor belonging to Green River, which Allamont defeated earlier in the season. For one quarter the Longhorns were able to play Moab on even terms, but the bigger size and experience of the Devil's show the rest of the game, as they scored in each of the remaining quarters. Outstanding players for Allamont were Craig Stevenson, Joe Fieldsted, Bill Fieldsted, Bruce Todd, Curt Christensen, Larry Fisher and Joe Birch. The next outing for the Altamont team will be against San Juan which started the season out with several quick wins and since then has lost to Moab, Duchesne and Monticellu (all teams Altamont has fallen to). Most state experts on high school football are picking the San Juan team to renew its winning ways against the Longhorns.
