Show Frank C. Robertson, well-known well-known Utah writer, residing at Mapleton will be honored with an open house at BYU. ! BYU will honor local writer, Frank Robertson i Frank C. Robertson, well- ! known writer of western nov- els, short stories and newspa per articles, will be honored by an open house at the Brigham Young University Sunday, August Au-gust 14. This will be the BYU Library's way of officially' thanking Mr. Robertson for his '. gift to the library of a copy of all of his books, stories, other writings and correspond ence, which will be housed as the Frank C. Robertson Collec- i tion in the Special Collections Division of the giant J. Reuben Reu-ben Clark Library. It is also ! a continuation of a custom begun sometime ago by the BYU Liibrary to honor suc- cessful Utah writers. Mr. Robertson has written ! approximately 160 published novels, 1000 short stories, magazine mag-azine serials and articles. Some i say he could easily claim the title of Utah's most prolific author. His books are tremen- i dously popular in England and many other parts of the world. ! They have been translated and published in ten languages besides be-sides English. At 76, he still does much writing. He has been president j of the Western Writers of I America, and for years a ! member of its board of direc- i tors. He has been one of the ; most active members of The i League of Utah Writers, hav ing served as president several times and as a board member mem-ber for years. Mr. Robertson received his background education for writing writ-ing western novels as a sheep- ' herder in Idaho and Utah, as a young man. His formal education edu-cation was limited, but he has become a very well educated man through his own reading and studying. He gives credit for much of his success to his i wife who does considerable typing for him and offers criticism at times. He is listed in "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in the West," and the "British Author's and Writer's Who's Who Reference Guide. Mr. Robertson and his wife have lived in Mapleton for over twenty-five years. They lived in Springivlle a short time before moving to Mapleton. All of his friends and anyone else interested will be welcome at the open house, which will be held at the "Friends of the BYU Library Room" at the Clark Library 2 to 4 p.m., August 14. Keeping fresh during warm days is difficult. As the body changes during the years, it may be necessary to experiment experi-ment with new deodorants to find one more effective than one used for many years. I |
