Show 216 Attend Gleaner Girl and "M" Men Banquet There wrere approximately 216 at the annual Alpine Stake Gleaner Girl and M Men banquet Monday evening, April S. The affair was given in the Stake Tabernacle amusement .hall, asd was a success to the nth degree. The long tables were artisticly decorated in colors of green and gold, flowers, candlesticks and holders, and favors being the motifs used. The favors especially were most novel and attractive, being green party sticks arranged stilt style and supporting a gilded egg shell of salted nuts. The Fourth Ward Mutual was in charge of this feature, and they are to be highly high-ly commended for the pretty effect produced. The hall," too, was gaily decorated, the orchestra booth being draped in green and gold crepe paper. A three course banquet was served under the direction of Mrs. Viola Robinson, whose culinary achievements achieve-ments are well known in this community. com-munity. The menu consisted of the following delicious eatables: Fruit cocktail, mashed potatoes, gravy, roast pork, cabbage salad, buttered carrots, hot biscuits, cream pie. During the dinner, the Master of Ceremonies, Dr. A. G. Brockbank, introduced in-troduced Austin Moyle of Alpine as toastmaster of the evening, who proved to be very capable and competent com-petent in this position. The following program was enjoyed: Community singing "Good Evening, Mr. Pal," "M. I. A. Our M. I. A." under the direction of K. J. Bird; grace, President James H. Clarke; two selections from the M Men quartet, American Fork Second ward; "M Men Ideals," Robert Clarke; "Gleaner Girls Ideals,' Vida Berg; Responses from both M Men and Gleaner Girls "Our M Men" and "Sweet Adeline"; Gleaner song, Third ward; short talk, Oscar Kirkham of I the Y. M. M. I. A. General board; j short, talks, President Fox, Mrs. , Ceesley and Mrs. Julia Baxter of the Y. L. M. I. A. General board; com-I munity singing, "Friendships We ' Cherish" and "Sing A Ling;" remarks President C. R Young and S. L. Chip-man; Chip-man; prayer, Bishop Joseph H. Storrs. Following this dancing was enjoyed enjoy-ed the remainder of the evening. Both organizations are to be complimented com-plimented for the splendid success of the affair. With this year's experience, all indications point to a bigger and better event next year. |
